***Update: I really did love this thing...while it worked! Shortly after posting my first review, the machine seized up and now refuses to work. Apparently it does not like serging through two layers of pre-quilted material (even though it did for several days). I've tried to have it fixed under the warranty, but apparently, since this was bought through Amazon, I have to send it to New Jersey to have it fixed (as told to me by a Janome dealership/service center near me). Else, I'm looking at over $100 just to have it looked at! Until I decide what to do, I'll stick with my good ole' cheapo Singer. It doesn't seem to be as "fragile." To sum up, don't buy this unless you only need to do lightweight sewing with very lightweight fabric.

Incredible value! Even though we had never operated any serger before, we were successfully serging within a very few hours after receiving our Janome MOD-8933 Serger. We did a number of tests on different types of fabric strips as we learned the basics. The very same actual project that we had previously assembled with a regular sewing machine took less than half the time using our new serger! We could not be happier with our purchase. JO & JD
