Good for the right problem

The problem I had with my door was an in/out offset, not an up/down one. These are designed, it seems to me to fix the latter, not the former. While I did use one, I had to Chisel out a fair amount of jamb to get it to work. I also thought the screws they come with were to short.

I specifically went looking for a product to fix this issue and found GATOR Door Latch Restorer. If you live in a house that moves (like my 1800's New England Colonial) then you may notice that no matter how perfectly you install your door in the summer, it may move by the middle of winter. This product is a godsend. It does exactly what it says it will do and if your door is anywhere near correct to start, it should solve your latching problem. A++ to Easy Latch, LLC!!!! An easy fix to a common annoyance. I searched for a method to fix doors that no longer latch properly, and came across a YouTube video that involved chiseling out the door jamb, filling in the old screw holes, and drilling new holes. Not being very handy myself, that was not the kind of solution I was hoping for. A commenter for that video recommended the GATOR Door Latch Restorer, and it turned out to the perfect solution for me. Gator Door Latch Restorer strike plates are, simply, amazing. I had five doors in my 30 year old home that no longer closed securely. I attempted to reposition one of the door's strike plates with a chisel and drill, and quickly stopped that nonsense realizing I'm not actually a carpenter. Then, I contacted two local tradesmen, but they are busy and repositioning strike plates is a relatively small job for a professional carpenter. So, I just could not get anyone's interest enough to add me to their schedule.
