Dual sim and phone call functionality make it a good buy
HenryJuly 22, 2017
After spending some time with it, the speed has become a little annoying. It does and delivers as promised however the low ram slow down performance. The screen is not he best but the dual sim functionality and the ability to make phone calls is a great plus. For the money and if you can deal with it's lag... its a good buy. I enjoy it while on the go and on the road.
This is probably the biggest cellphone screen I've ever seen... Problem is that it doesn't recognize my Tmobile SIM

Seems like a nifty phone-tablet, except there is a giant issue - I bought a SIM adapter to turn my micro-sim into a fullsize sim, and the tablet cannot detect my sim (it's a Tmobile sim that works perfectly fine in every other phone I've used, even in phones that require the use of an adapter).

I used a friend's ATT sim, and after a lot of effort, it finally recognized his. I tried a combination of both sim slots, and I had the same problem with mine being detected - and when my friend's was finally detected after much work, it ignored my sim card that was also in there at the same time, even after switching slots.

Also, the resolution is kind of lackluster - my smaller Xperia Z ultra (6.4 inches) has a much better resolution at 1080p, but then again, the initial price for my phone was about $350 compared to this $150ish tablet phone, so I guess I can't complain too much about that issue.

But the fact that it can't seem to pick up my SIM is kind of a major problem for a phone. On the other hand, I did buy this more as a joke since people would often say my Xperia Z Ultra was "a god damn tablet; that's not a phone!" so I bought this to show people what a REAL tablet-phone would look like. That and because I didn't have any newer Android fullsize tablets in my inventory, so decided this would be a good way to squash both issues in one swoop.

I suppose I might ask Tmobile to send me a replacement sim, or maybe I'll just work around with the existing SIM that I have and perhaps find the magic seating that it wants (I want to assume it's a physical connection issue and not an outright rejection of my SIM as a whole) so that I *can* use my existing SIM with this phone.
4g :)

Very smooth operating. Using it as a Ooma phone and a blue tooth is needed to hear with. Sim card was a breeze. Tech help was not needed.
Texting is great.
Needed badly, some type of protection ! Glass screen protector and a case. Had this for 2+ wks and haven't been able to take it out and use it as needed yet.
... and my Note 8 was at one time the best. In order to get the phone/tablet (ie phablet) ...

I am a big Samsung fan and my Note 8 was at one time the best. In order to get the phone/tablet (ie phablet) I had to order the International version. Unfortunately Samsung has said they will no longer make the large phablets and mine is outdated. I found a 7" Blu Studio LTE and gave it a try. Let's not even go there. I purchased the Azpen G1058 and other than a couple of small learning curves I had no issues. As a matter of fact, I am loving this phablet. I have ordered some generic cases and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I also ordered a "cut to fit" screen cover. For people who buy this phablet and think it is not compatible with their service, make sure you have turned the data on. All of the "apn type" in configuration was not available since you cannot type it in but instead are given choices. Once the data is turned on, it worked without the two settings I could not get.. I am a very happy purchaser. This phablet is fast and exactly what I wanted. A phone that I use with blue tooth (not that I have to) and a very large tablet. Don't have to carry two devices and don't have two bills. Screen is clear, speed is fast and internet is always at my finger tips with no problems, I did have lower sound than I wanted but that was fixed with an ap, I am with Cricket who I am also a big fan of and I get 4g on this phablet, I have ordered a bluetooth that will allow me to talk, dial and hold your contacts so you have a very small device for phone use. The other issue is i had purchased all of my handbags with a pocket to hold my Galaxy Note 8. Now back to shopping for new handbags. I have had Samsungs Note 2, Note 3, and of course the Note 8 International version. Samsung, you have lost a dedicated customer.
If you're a tweaker like me, you'll get some heartburn from this tablet ...

If you're a tweaker like me, you'll get some heartburn from this tablet because it can't currently be rooted. I'm using this in my car to replace an awfully slow AT&T-version Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" that takes minutes to start Google Maps, and my first impressions were quite good. It's a bit on the heavy side, but it's a 10" tablet ... would you carry this in your hands? It's actually about the same weight as the Tab 2 it replaced. Features are as expected from a non-carrier device but luxurious compared to a typical carrier phone these days (FM radio and dual SIMs, neither of which American carriers are too fond of). There's a bit of preloaded software but nothing that constitutes ridiculous bloat, just the typical Wild Tangent Games, an Office files viewer, maybe an eBook reader, all of which can be frozen or hidden even without root, but I'd love to just eliminate them altogether.

So far, I've found the interface to be simple (basic, AOSP-like) and snappy, with apps like Waze running as smooth as butter, especially compared to the slug it replaced. Build quality ....... don't drop it. It's in a car dock for me so I hope not to have a problem.

Will update as I get more use out of it.
