100 hour review B777

Coming from a U-Fly mic with QC15s that were getting very tired after 10 years. I narrowed it down to the bose and these David Clark's. I went out on a limb and selected the DC based on price and reputation for being robust.
The headsets do feel robust but only time will tell to see how they hold up. Coming in heavier than my old QC15 set up I was worried these would feel too heavy. But I'm glad to report that they are very comfortable. I've had them on my head for 6 hours plus at a clip while on ultra long haul flights to/from New York to Asia, the Middle East, and further.
I've changed the batteries once so far after roughly 50 hours. Battery changes are quick and easy. The best part is that if the batteries go dead the headsets still work as they should (TSO), unlike my former set up that would go out at the worst possible time. That alone is worth a little extra weight. They are still very comfortable.
The sound quality is 90% of the QC15, but the microphone is better and is more clear with these DCs.
The fully reversible microphone is a god send, to finally wear on the correct side and have the ability to flip it out of the way is civilized.
The blinking lights on the controller are too bright. Putting it in night mode is convoluted, so carefully covering 99% of the leds leaving a little peaking out with electrical tape does the trick neatly.
Bluetooth works really well. This thing pairs with my iPhone with 100% reliability so far and zero fussing around. I wish the BT soft mute could be defaulted to off but it's very easy to deselect each time you plug in.
I wish they were a little lighter but given how robust these feel I'm not sure how realistic that would be.
The noise canceling works very well, equal to that of my former QC15. The over the ear fit is great, no pressure on my ears and no discomfort otherwise. I usually wear them with the inside cup slid a little back so I can hear others. The auto off feature works great (must select this after opening when new).
Coming from the 737 previously, these would be a perfect choice. On the 777 they are overkill but also an excellent fit. If you install the belt clip holder on the controller it will hang perfectly secure and out of the way on the window shade rail and not strain the wires (photo attached). If in the IRO seat it will hang from the inside pencil holder perfectly as well.
I will keep these DCs and hope to get many years from them.

Have not had a chance to use this much. But DC has always been one of the best on the market. Had to make a decision between Bose and DC. the Bose has a reputation for breaking, no such reputation with the DC. So based on the DC past reputation, I went with this one. definitely one of the best decisions I have made. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an ANC headset.
Five Stars
