SO much fun! and very useful!
C Barker•August 15, 2018
I took this out of the box the moment it was delivered because I have been looking forward to checking this out. I have been looking at everything with it including a metal sliver I have had in my thumb for a few days and I couldn't see it with my naked eye. I checked it out under the telescope and was able to verify that there was something stuck in my thumb. I ended up soaking it in anti-bacterial ointment and covering it with a bandage so it would work it's way out, and it did!
I plan on using this device to look at some of the jewelry that I am creating so I can see all of the very small parts to insure the quality of what I am making is perfect.

This is a cheap and useless Microscope
Josh Smith•June 17, 2018
The "portable USB Microscope" is cheap and useless. There are very few things i can find to say nice about it.
Pros:
-comes with drivers needed
Cons:
-The mount is made of cheap plastic, I broke it while trying to assemble it the first time. It is brittle and will fall apart
-The Optics are fuzzy and trying to get something in focus will take 10 minutes for a simple image
-The microscope itself has no mass so the slightest breeze or bump of the table throws off the entire scope
-the buttons on the microscope do not work very well, one makes a sound and captures a picture and the other does nothing
-the built in light LEDS wash out any image that is able to be captured and wont work when trying to zoom in close.

An OK Beginner Microscope!
Savvy Online Consumer•June 16, 2018
This microscope is an OK microscope for certain purposes. First of all, it connects to both computer and smartphone. I used the provided CD to install the driver on a Windows 10 without an issue. The microscope works even without the driver as a regular webcam and you can just use amcap (freeware) to view and record. The installation of the driver provides for some extra settings in the camera properties that includes 400x digital zoom. However, the software that came with it, CoolingTech, took a while to be installed as it was not compatible with Windows 10 and I had to use compatibility settings multiple times for it to work. Even then, the software is not intuitive and you have to play around with it to figure it out. The only supposed usage that is useful in the software is the measurement feature that requires calibration which I was not able to do. As for Android OS, assuming the phone is OTG compatible, with an adapter/converter from regular USB to micro USB CameraFi app can be used to view and record.
The camera has one dial for both zoom and focuses which means, depending on the distance, it's not very easy to focus at any level of zoom. It focuses only on some levels of zooms. The lens came with a cover that is scratched. I didn't use the cover as it messes up the focus. The snap button doesn't work so I had to manually take a screenshot of the video. The front part of the lens is screwed in and can be unscrewed which effect the focus try not to touch it. The microscope can be very shaky even when it's on its stand and fastened when you want to zoom/focus because the place of zoom/focus ring is on the camera. The magnification is definitely not 800X unless they meant 400X digital as it shows on the properties of the microscope and just 200X optical power which would work for observing small details on ordinary objects and insects but not enough for human cells, etc.

This is a great microscope. I used it to get up close to my seedlings and buds and it really does a great job. I shoot live video while just exploring so I can focus on the subject at hand and not worry about operating the cam itself. Then I go back and watch the video and take screenshots as needed or replay and pause anything of interest. The drivers were a tad clumsy to install, but most people can figure it out and get it done. The video is nice quality and crystal clear. It's easy to use one handed too.
