Only four stars because the first one received was a dud. The customer service however was fantastic. They sent me an email asking how I liked the clock. I answered saying it did not work properly. It lost five minutes each hour of use so the time was always wrong. Knowing when you purchase an item that is massed produced (in any country) you are taking a chance you will receive a lemon. After weighing the pros and cons I took the chance. The clock is for a young boy who wants his independence in the form of waking up without a parent calling him from two floors and three rooms away. Within 8 hours I received an email back from customer service saying a replacement clock was on the way and I did not have to return the old one,.all at no cost. The clock body is plastic and it is very light weight. The bells are loud and will wake you for sure. You need a AAA battery that does not come with the clock. Setting the alarm is simple. The ilumination comes from a small light. You have to press a button on the back of the clock to light it up.

My cell phone wasn't cutting it anymore, so I bought this little torture device. This is a small clock. In the product description, it quite clearly says that this is 4 inches, but make sure that you understand that before purchasing this product. It's neat and tidy looking - it does have some imperfections though. The black clock has a matte finish which easily gets marked up (I received mine with some marks). The clock works great so far. There is no ticking sound whatsoever and it is easy to adjust the time and the alarm. This thing is undeniably loud, but so far, it hasn't jolted me awake, which is what I need. I manage to walk across my room in a comatose state, shut the alarm off, and get back in bed without feeling the least bit awake. Maybe I need to put it right next to my head.....

Looks and works well. It is much easier for those with limited sight. Black face and white lines and numbers is best color bet.
I have terrible hearing my hearing would give a 4, others would give a 5. I was awake already and it has a great sound for alarm, but it would not wake the dead, as reviews say. I think I do have a better odds at being awoken with this alarm, but do not fret it will startle others or you.
ps I ordered another. I dropped it on floor a few times knocked it offend tablehalf asleep, still perfect. & my awful night vision adores this little guy. I still say that black is great, but I can understany younger you might like colors. I haven't enjoyed a night clock as this ever.I am thinking abojt getting more for gifts.

This is a great, bare bones alarm clock. No frills and whistles about it. You set it the night before and it goes off loud and proud the next morning. Has been wonderful for me as I no longer have to sleep with my phone in my room to distract me. It has remained accurate and consistent and waking me up every day. Did I mention that it is LOUD? No issues sleeping though this alarm for me.
I like the retro-modern look of the alarm clock. It seems to have held up pretty well for a couple months now. I'm curious to see how long the batteries will last on me. The backlight is also a nice feature.
For anyone new to these types of alarms. You cannot really set it to wake you up at a specific minute, you turn the alarm dial to where the hour hand will cross it and set off the alarm. I usually set mine somewhere around 5:20 am; it has been pretty spot on each time.
