I purchased a new (32" Changhong) TV for the bedroom, unaware that the headphone port and the S/PDIF (optical) port were the only audio outputs. This rendered my wireless headphones basically useless, as using the headphone port cuts the TV's speakers, so I couldn't switch easily between the headphones and the TV (speakers). This magical signal converter allowed me to convert the S/PDIF port to an RCA port and is even powered through the TV's USB port! The cables were all included! I've attached the device to the back of the TV so it's out-of-sight and everything is back to normal.

It's very important to change your TV's digital audio output to PCM from Dolby. This is a converter, not a decoder. I made the mistake and almost return the product. This one comes with 5v power supply and toslink audio cable. it's good price.

Wow I am back in business again. At night I need to use my earphones as my wife is light sleeper. Well the regular RCA connection on the TV went out. I noticed the digital connection on it so I bought a optical line to my couch and with the power connection where the wall meets the couch I figured it would be a good connection. Well now it all works and is handy with the volume control on it right there plugged in headphones and boom I am back to watching tv half the night and no problems with the other half.
