Great product, great customer service
J-WeBDecember 12, 2016
I bought this for my mother, who is always complaining about not having enough time to clean. She loves it! It cleans areas you can't get with a broom. Your house has to be conducive to robot vacuums though. The best advice I can give would be to follow it around your house the first time you use it. There are numerous things that you wouldn't immediately recognize that can trip them up or cause issues (rugs, cords, confined areas, dog food bowls, etc.). If you have a busy house, it's hard to verify everything has been removed from it's path. Following it around with a remote the first time, gives you the ability to stop it before issues occur. After the first time, you know exactly what needs to be done to prep for use the next time.

The one huge plus about this device is the seller's customer service. They resolve issues immediately, and work to make sure you are happy with your new device.

We had a iRobot Roomba before and it broke down after 2-1/2 years. When we were looking for a new one, we almost got another iRobot again but it's expensive. We did some research online and came to find out about the iLife. Price is a lot less and the reviews I saw are pretty good. So we bought one on Amazon and we were happy with our decision for the first month. Then one day all of a sudden the iRobot doesn't work. I went through all the online FAQ's on cleaning and maintaining the unit. I did everything possible and the vacuum still doesn't work right. One day it will work and one day it won't. Or it will work for 5 minutes then just died. I contacted customer service on the warranty and they are being extremely difficult. They required us to upload a video on YouTube on how we cleaned it and at the end they just refused to honor the warranty. I guess you get what you paid for.
Great Price for a great robot vacuum!

I've always wanted a robot vacuum but I could never justify paying the price for one of them. I decided to try to find a lower cost, imitation type and based on the reviews, I settled for the ILIFE A4. I can't compare it to a Roomba or a iRobot as I've never used them before. I'm sure they have extra bells and whistles that this doesn't have but I'm happy to say that this product is great!
The packaging it comes with is very nice. The instructions are simple, a few gramitical errors and not very detailied but it's easy to understand. The robot has two spinning side brushes (extras included) on the bottom front that are supposed to sweep dust/dirt into the middle where the horizontal rotating brush spins into into the dust bin. The bin has a HEPA filter. Good for people with allergies, I suppose. There is a spare in included. The robot feels solid and not cheap. It's low profile makes it easy to fit under my couch. It also looks pretty nice. There is only one button on top marked AUTO (on) with a status light. There is a infrared remote (batteries included) which controls all the functions of the robot. You can set it to random, spot cleaning and edge or you can control it yourself with the directional keys. There is also the ability to set the time when you wish to automatically do a cleaning run.
Set it up was easy. I charged it overnight and when I awoke, I hit the clean button on the remote. What I noticed is that it is very quiet. There is a "max" mode, where the suction is louder but tolerable. I assume the battery will run out sooner in this mode. I usually leave it on random. It will sometimes retrace over the same path more than once. I was concerned that it would bang into the furinture and leave gouges/scrapes but it's pretty gentle. It tackled hardwood floors and carpets(including bathroom mats) with no issues! Make sure you remove electrical wires as it will try to snag them. Pressing the home button on the remote, the A4 will slows(gear) down to start looking for it's base. The same will happen when it's batteries become low. So far it has found it's charging base on each run.
Removing the dust bin on the rear of the robot is simple. Once removed, I recommend opening the bin above a trash can, as there is a open slot where dust can easily come out. My floors are pretty clean(at least I thought) but It's amazing how much it can pick up on a single run.
If you don't want to spend the money on an expensive robot vacuum, you will not be disappointed if you make this purchase.
Leaves debris going from carpet to hard floors.
E. HolmesNovember 27, 2016
This is my first robot vacuum. I'm pretty happy with it overall, it can go under the furniture and doesn't have trouble going from hard floors to carpet. It gets right around the furniture legs! But it doesn't clean as well as I expected. And when it goes from carpet to wood, it leaves debris behind... Like it can't hold its bladder. I end up getting my dirt devil out and vacuuming around the carpets. It is helpful, doesn't doesn't do the entire job, I have to help it out! I have a video but it won't allow me to post it, only photos...
It was super quiet and looked cool
Amazon CustomerSeptember 27, 2016
I was very excited when I received this vacuum. It was super quiet and looked cool. However the performance of this didn't make the cut. I had to babysit this thing when it ran. It got stuck under everything! It would not pickup the smallest hairs or threads from my very low profile carpet when it ran directly over it and it operated so randomly that it would go over the same location several times but miss other locations. It operates all over the place with no layout of where it is supposed to go. I upgraded to the Neato Botvac D80 and it put this unit to absolute shame. Spend the extra money for Neato. It maps out the room and cleans very methodically and cleans well. And it hasn't gotten stuck yet! It almost has a couple times but it works its way out of it.

UPDATE 10/27/16: Although this product did not work for me, I did add 2 more starts after the fact. The reason is, their customer service is fantastic! After I only gave 1 star and was disappointed, their customer service contacted me and then sent me a new one free of charge. While that doesn't change the fact that it didn't work in my environment, it was an above and beyond gesture.
