My Mother has lost a lot of mobility and uses a walker to get around. Thus she is relegated to sitting a lot and has developed a lot of pains on her buttocks from sitting too long. Although not in a wheelchair, I thought this seat cushion would be very helpful for her. She is overweight so many other cushions have not been very helpful as they sink and loose the benefits of a softer sitting surface. Larger items like sitting on a pillow cause her to sit awkwardly so it is not comfortable. This cushion has been the ideal solution. I highly recommend this for elderly people that are relegated to having to sit for longer periods of time. At a minimum it is more comfortable and makes it easier on my Mother. I highly recommend this cushion.

I had high hopes for this cushion due to it's low profile and somewhat complexity. The fact is that the cushion is not that effective for anyone over 100 lbs. The main problem I suspect is that the layers become too compressed to be effective when weight is applied. A piece of memory foam easily outperforms this cushion but to be more effective add some layers of regular foam. The problem here is that the cushion could get quite high and was one of the reasons I thought this cushion might work. The non-slip bottom works well but the upper fabric is slippery so be careful. Definitely not suitable for power wheelchairs.

What can I say...I've been doing physical therapy for the past 4 months, have had steroid epidural shots, anti-inflammatory medication, muscle relaxants...this is the first time I could sit for more than 5 minutes without immediately thinking that I should rearrange myself in a different position. Excellent product, definitely exceeded my expectations. By the way, my case involves tailbone pain, extruded and bulging lumbar discs. Thanks Purap developers, you may rest your heads on your pillows at night and remember that a graduate student will be able to finish her thesis...you will be mentioned in my acknowledgment section!

PURAP Cushion - 3D Fluid Flotation Technology With Lowest Sitting Pressures I purchased this product because my Mother broke her hip and underwent hip replacement surgery. She has been working on rehabbing the "new hip" at a nursing home. Within a week of arriving at the nursing home she had developed bed sores on her dupa (tailbone and related areas). These bed sores weren't due to neglect, but rather due to the fact she no longer has any layer of fat underneath her skin to act as a cushion. Knowing how fast bed sores can turn septic I frantically searched Amazon looking for some sort of product that would work to help heal the bed sores. The day my Mom received the cushion, she put it on the chair of her wheelchair and the pain was so much less when she sat on the pad she was able to spend more than half the day out of bed--which greatly facilitated her recovery. She now uses the pad to sleep on and also to sit on whenever she is in a wheelchair. As a chemical engineer and a patent attorney, I am convinced it is the superior construction and layering effect of the components of this pad that made it such a cushion that is so much less painful for my Mother to sit on the pad. I can recommend this product to anyone who is prone to bed sores and to anyone who has to spend a lot of time sitting, including using it as a seat pad when driving. I can also recommend people buying this pad for anyone who must sit in a wheelchair or be in a bed for any length of time. I can even recommend this pad be purchased for anyone with an elderly or ailing dog or cat that needs better padding to support them.

I originally gave this a bad review because I ordered from Amazon instead of through the manufacturer's website (big mistake!) because there was a production glitch and some defective ones were in Amazon's stock with no way of knowing which ones were defective to pull back--so some of us got the bad ones and returned them.

AMAZINGLY, the designers and owners contacted me immediately after reading my bad review even before they knew I was returning it, and went the extra mile of going to the factory and step-by-step inspecting the production. They have corrected the defect and improved the air inflation amount and distribution. I received a replacement and WOW -- WHAT A DIFFERENTLY -- AMAZING!!!!

I bought these for my 87 year old parents -- my mom cannot walk or stand and has pressure point problems and this has made her very happy and prevent bed & sit sores. We use it on her wheelchair and the electric lounge chair. My father got another one from the manufacturer because he needs it too--he has a thin rear with exposed tailbone that is uncomfortable on everything -- BUT THIS now.
