Great idea, but the playing surfaces are disappointing.

What a great practice tool.
It encourages creativity and develops more control due to the different surfaces. The only thing I would improve is the difference in feel and sound between the two hard surfaces. They are too similar.
I highly recommend this pad.

Despite other reviews I have read. I found this multi textured/hardness pad quite useful in practicing my grip strength for different parts of the set. I have definitely seen an improvement with my multi-stroke rolls while moving around the set although some of that could be just from additional practice overall that I was not doing before without a drum pad. It also allows me to try new fills and rudiments combinations around the pad. My favorite is to go outside during my lunch breaks, open the lift gate on my jeep, throw on the rudiments app and earphones and practice away.
