This mattress is one of the firmest foam mattresses I could find on Consumer Reports, and it had the highest rating of any comparably firm mattress. I chose it because of the support that firm mattresses provide, but as a side sleeper, I didn't realize how important it is to have a layer of very soft material to relieve pressure points. Not the fault of the mattress at all. It is advertised as firm, and it perfectly lives up to its promise.

I purchased a Tempur-Pedic 3 inch memory foam topper to compliment this mattress, and the combination of the incredibly comforting memory foam with the firm support from this mattress has been a delight. I work from home, and spend most days in bed on my computer providing remote support, so it's very important to me that the mattress be not only comfortable, but durable. And I'm confident based on the reviews and the testing from Consumer Reports that this mattress will hold up for years to come.

I'm extremely happy with this mattress, and look forward to sleep at night because it's so relaxing and comfortable. I highly recommend adding a thick foam topper if you are a side sleeper, and probably at least a thin one for back sleepers. I think stomach sleepers would enjoy this as is, because it supports your hips when you lay on your stomach.

I purchased a Firm 9" King on Amazon and ended up exchanging it for a Medium 9" King. This was an upgrade for an 8 year old beautyrest pillowtop.

PROs:
1. If you buy directly from the Sleep On Latex website, shipping is RIDICULOUSLY fast. I placed my order around 10am and had it in my home around lunch the next day. (I live two states away from their HQs).

2. If isolation, heat dissipation, or uniformity throughout the mattress are anywhere near the top of your priority list, you won't find a better mattress type than natural latex.

CON:
1. Natural latex makes for impressively heavy mattresses. Handles would help a lot but they aren't possible if you think about it. If you attach handles using a strap that passes through the mattress then you negatively impact comfort. If you just glue or sew handles to the outside wool/cotton cover then you risk ripping the cover due to the weight. Because this is kind of a no win situation, I won't deduct any stars because I agree with the decision to let moving the mattress be a pain in order to avoid non-latex internal components.

SUBJECTIVE:
1. The firm mattress we got through amazon was truly very firm. I would liken the firmness to being slightly firmer than a good air mattress that is inflated to the point of nearly popping.

2. The 2nd mattress we got directly through Sleep On Latex is great for my family who are predominantly back sleepers but spend a lot of time on our sides as we're falling asleep.

3. As mentioned in the product description, the latex is covered by a New Zealand wool and cotton cover. The 2nd mattress we got did have a veeeeery slight 'barn' smell from the wool when you put your nose close to it. It was mostly gone after a week. My wife and I actually found it to be a pleasant smell.

THE PURCHASE AND RETURN/EXCHANGE PROCESS:
So I would recommend buying directly from Sleep on Latex. I'm generally a hardcore prime user but in this case, using Amazon is actually more inconvenient. If you buy through Amazon and decide to use their 100-day guarantee, you'll be asked to start a standard return request through amazon. Then Sleep On Latex gives you the option to donate the mattress to a charity and send them proof you did so or they can arrange for a charity to come pick it up. They don't actually accept the mattress back. Then, if you want to 'exchange' for a different size or firmness, you'll have to start a brand new order. If you use their website instead of Amazon, then this 2-step refund then re-purchase process is streamlined to just asking for an exchange. I will also add that sleep on Latex was very prompt with having the charity come the next day to pickup the mattress and issuing a refund that evening.

Had a temper pedic felt great for couple months but it sagged very fast! No support once sagged after 2 months it went from firm to soft.

We had been using this latex matress for 2.5 months and it is still very firm! Im pretty sure this mattress is going to last much longer! In fact their firm is quite firm still. So firm that we wanted a bit softer as we bought firm thinking that it would soften as the temporpedic did. It did seem to break in a little bit but after 2.5 months still it was a bit uncomfortably firm. GREAT FOR SUPPORT!

They stand by their product with one free return within 100 days. But as we didnt want to return it just augment it and saw no reason to cost the company for replacing and shipping cost we asked if they would share the cost of a topper to make it a bit softer. They promptly replied and agreed to credit us after we bought the topper we chose, and recommended 2"-3" soft to soften it a bit. We didnt need it to be much softer so we got the 2" and sent them the order number. They then credited us 1/2 the cost as they promised. They were prompt and the topper came very fast.

We unzipped the matress cover and installed the topper in it, it softened it up very well... Perhaps a bit much but it still feels suportive though its softer and we are aclimating to it.

The perimiter of the mattress seems a bit firmer than the center, and there was a lump in our matress however we put it under our legs and dont even feel it that way.

U dont sink in like a temperpedic. But u also can move freely and role bounce a bit and feel lots of support! Its different but very good u just needs time to aclimate.

So far i think its worth much, much more than a temporpedic as temperpedic firm matress was such a let down softening to painful in 1 year...

Also this company responds promptly and works with you to make your buying experiance a positive one in my experiance they were very good to work with. i would have no problem recomending them.

- durability it seems light years better than temperpedic, however its been just under 3 months now, i will try to update this if it doesant last, but im pretty sure this will stand the test of time based on the fact that since the first week it seems as if it hasnt changed at all and by this time temporpedic had a hollow that was deeper where u slept forcing u to keep breaking it down in the same spot as it got softer and this mattress u cant tell where u slept formerly. U wouldnt know it wasnt brand new its consistant no hollows 👠huge deal!

Organic and we didnt notice any objectionable sent. Unless u are very sensitive or get a dud its not an issue especially if u put a matress protector on it to protect your investment. And its required for most warrantees.

Its not pirfect but it seems to be an exceptional product for a very resonable price.

I no longer thought, that in 2020, companies' that value the "Customer " above all else, still exist.

Well I found their is at least one, Sleep on Latex, and it is the company that sold me this mattress. Sleep on Latex is a privately owned company out of Chicago run by two brothers, and they are being honest when they tell you that they only want to be satisfied with the purchase.

I returned this mattress on the 100th and final day of the warranty or trial period at 4:30 pm EST. The mattress was simply too firm for my aging back. I was fully bracing my expectations when I made the phone call for a "run around", but instead got absolutely no questions asked.

Pickup was "easy as pie" and totally efficient.

Needless to say I was shocked at this atypical behavior from company in 2020.

In a day and age, when every business is trying to screw you... bank, phone company, credit card companies, the electric company... this company stepped up to satisfy a customer.

While a latex mattress is perhaps, not for everyone, they make a high quality product they stand behind in every way.

If you have a problem... call them, they will respond and try to make it right. Who can ask for anything more?

As for the gassing problem some owners report in the review... we have had no gassing problems from the mattresses we purchased. One way to combat that is to buy a waterproof, fully sealable mattress cover. I always buy these when purchasing a new latex mattress.

My new Medium Firm Twin XL (split King) is on its way... could not be more impressed with a company or its products.

After being nauseated by the off-gassing of a leading-brand mattress, I started the long process of researching mattress materials. We finally made the plunge on this organic mattress, made of natural materials. Shipping costs were steep and delivery took a while, but we are so happy with this mattress, one year later. Initially, there was a "barn" smell from the wool cover and rubber scent from the latex, but it completely disappeared a few weeks in. Those odors were completely acceptable after being sickened by a chemical-laden mattress. The firm mattress is perfect! We have had no back issues. I recommend this latex mattress to anyone in the market for a new one.
