Bought this after trying one from my other headlamp in a cheap (Orange Home Center) light. Works like a charm. Had to make minor mods to the battery compartment but it was easy and totally worth it. The safety cutoff works properly to prevent undervoltage fire risk. It flashes to give you a warning before it shuts off. For morning and evening chores around the farm it is very nice to have an upcycled older light while not worrying about running to town for batteries or having to dispose of them.

I was going thru 3 AAA batteries every month - I take our dog out for her last "potty" trip at about 11:30 every night and use my Petzl headlamp vs a flashlight. After a month the light had dimmed enough to need new batteries (I live on a gravel road next to a state forest so the chance of meeting an unwelcome critter is pretty high). I've only been using the rechargeable battery for about a week, but it has normal brightness and it seems to hold a charge.

I have been really happy with this battery when paired with my Petzl Tikka headlamp. Using it mostly on low with the occasional higher brightness when needed, I typically get 4-5 nights use out of a single charge. I've been using the same battery for a couple years now and have not noticed any real degradation in performance or ability to hold a charge.
