Not American Made-Made in China and Going Back to China
Mark J. Occhipinti✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 25, 2017
Earthwise manual mower is a made in CHINA. Cheaply made, with Chinese metal. I purchased this mower because the description states it is American made. From the website description:
American Lawn Mower Company owns and sells reel mowers under the Earthwise, Great States and American Lawn Mower brands. In addition, we license and sell reel mowers under the Scotts Brand. The power source behind our reel mowers hasn't changed much in over 120 years. It always works when you want it to, and it doesn't leave any residue for the environment to absorb other than a couple of foot prints in a perfectly cut lawn. We've applied a century of technology to a good old fashioned idea: The reel lawn mower. Today's reel mowers are lightweight and easy to maneuver. They're ideal for today's hectic lifestyles. They're always ready when you are and they're almost maintenance free. They're good for the environment and your lawn. A reel mower snips the grass for a clean, precise cut. A cut that helped carve out the American Lawn Mower niche as the nation's largest supplier of reel mowers. We've spent over 120 years of perfecting our reel mower designs, streamlining our production processes and searching for the best possible materials to build the best reel mowers. And we're proud of all that. But more important, we've spent the last 120 years and we'll spend the next 120 more keeping America green.

Mows quite well, but will leave thicker stuff (like grass that has gone to seed) behind. But, it's an excellent workout and sometimes I use it for that very reason alone.
Not for the lazy person

If you think you'll have a beautiful looking yard after one cut with this, think again. If you'll only mow once a week, then go a different route. If you have the time and your body doesn't hate you just yet then this could be a match for you. From my experience, I HAD to mow 2 to 3 times a week. That'd be alright if my yard wasn't close to an acre size. It'd take close to 2.5 hours to complete my yard. When I kept up with mowing, this would run smooth and worked like a champ. When rain or work prevented me from mowing then my patience would be checked. If the grass gets to high the blades won't turn and the mower will just skid through the grass. If you have a lot of twigs, acorns, walnuts or any other debris on the ground, pick up before mowing or you'll be like me and go close to head over heels when coming to a sudden stop. It might seem I'm talking down on this but I really am not. You can't be lazy when mowing with this. You can't run over everything like you would with a gas mower. You can't wait and mow because you're not relying on a motor to get you through the thick grass but relying on that strong back of yours. I had the best looking yard on the block when I kept up with it but when I fell behind, I was punished. Oil before your first use you won't regret it

I love that it's manual and doesn't require electricity or batteries or fuel, but it doesn't cut close enough to the edges when I mow next to a wall, so I have to use manual sheers or a weed wacker to finish the job
Mows Like a Champ

The mower works great! It's quiet, runs smoothly, and gives me a nice workout pushing it around my small yard. Just as other reviewers have said, it really, really doesn't work on long grass. You can go back and forth all day and it'll just look like you tried to mow drunk with a weed-whacker.
