VERY VERSITILE

Originally purchased to as an extra for my car survival kit but also ended up using it to shield the heat of summer and the cold of winter by making curtains for my windows in my house.
One of YouTube's 10 Best Survival Blankets 2018- not the best but it made the list

Well, these are for my emergency pack. I can't write a totally honest review since they will be going into my emergency pack and I'll probably never use. Doubt these can be used more than twice. What I mean they don't appear to be able to take an extreme beating. Truthfully, the word blanket was a little misleading at first but after watching a bunch of YouTube videos (after my purchase) I better understood how mylar works. This will certainly keep you dry and warm if you find a way of keeping yourself wrapped inside - hope you're tiny. I read one person's idea of using duck tape to put two together - What a great idea - wish I thought of. The blanket will not be good under windy conditions unless you can secure closed. Blanket can also serve as shade to reflect the sun. There are other emergency blankets available that you can better shelter yourself with but they cost a lot more, a lot, lot, lot, more -- of course, it's only fair. The SOL Escape Bivvy I liked but the question is - "Can I afford it?" And it is still very thin and I need one of these or a tarp to protect the Bivvy from the ground. The last bad thing about this mylar blanker is -- you will never, ever, get this blanket back into the pouch it came in. That is the only reason I didn't take the chance of unfolding it. If you watch YouTube videos or read blogs you will better understand how the emergency blankets should be used and which blankets you may personally prefer to purchase. Also, with videos you will get rid of misconceptions of what to expect from emergency blankets, (Mylar blankets will not warm you like a cloth blanket that absorbs heat, it does not absorb heat, it reflects it back to you. Used incorrectly you could freeze to death), you will understand the scientific principles of what you need to do to survive the elements in an emergency if you watch YouTube videos. Warning - different people online have different ideas of how to use mylar, go with manufacturer's suggestions on how to use. Against your skin mylar can make you sweat and in freezing weather you can get hypothermia or worse freeze in your frozen sweat.
**Remember - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure** So even if you don't like it put it in your emergency pack anyway. You might thank yourself later and don't forget the duct tape. Don't buy cheap duct tape either.
seem thin hope they are what they say they are

seem thin have not tested them out yet but i will soon.
not sure how re usable they are as they appear quiet fragile
Good value for price, little less heavy duty, but still reflects well!

I got these to help reflect the sun in a hot climate and use as both a window cover and for general hiking / emergencies and novelty. I love Emergency blankets for the novelty of reflecting all the heat in, plus two layers of blankets blot out all the sun and helped chill a room we had from 95-105 F to 80 F just off the sun alone!

That's huge for our bright and sunny climate, since we had a wide open un UV treated window that just heated up the house like a little burning greenhouse effect.

For what it's worth, we had some other 2$ safety blankets we got at the local store. Theirs were a bit more sturdier but crinklier, (Maybe like, 0.7 oz vs 1-1.4 oz feel). But considering you kinda sometimes want a safety blanket to be light and portable that could be a pro or con.

They are noticeably thinner though noticeably just as shiny and well compacted and folded. They are noticably lighter and thinner vs my other, which would probably make them a better one time use or hiking blanket than the others. Though in terms of the space blanket effect it still feels every bit as strong. (It is a very shiny thinner blanket.) It seems to reflect well and be good for camping and a great sun cover. It just might not survive say a beating as much if say, wanted to use it as a backup tarp over the thicker one.

But it does seem like it would be good for it's intended hiking and emergency blanket use or hiking/camping as a over coat and does feel quite pull resistant. The mylar is still very nice and resists pulls very well so it should be fine for sleeping, but another one we used to cover another object almost immediately punctured as soon as a rough metal hinge rested on it.

I wouldn't use it for as heavy duty or tarping stuff as the other one, but it's great at it's intended lightweight emergency blanket / sun cover purpose. It does block the sun very well and seem to be a good emergency blanket though!
Fulfills multiple roles

I like that this can be an emergency shelter, camouflage, or a daytime signal all in one package. The combination of olive drab and international orange is useful. It's a good addition to a survival kit or as part of the 10-essentials.
