only complaint is i wish it came with more of the 250-001 holders for the typical lathe bits. this is just a personal observation.
the unit and the parts are of very nice quality for what you pay. mine was up and running right away without any modifications (aside from the initial cleaning/re-lube of the parts).
this is a highly recommended upgrade to your mini lathe. HF seems to drag their feet on shipping the unit they sell and i cant comment on it's quality. just buy this one if you have the HF mini lathe and be done with it. A++

This is a well made tool but I'm returning it as it does not have enough adjustment for my tool bits. The AXA size tool post is a better fit for my 9" Southbend lathe. For a smaller swing lathe this OXA would be a good buy.

This is my first holder of this type, so I don't have a great deal of reference, but it does what it should do. Holds the tools tightly and is easily set up. Setscrews are good and don't appear to have some of the quality issues I have seen reported on other units. Wedge lock is good and solid. Only issue I have is probably due to unfamiliarity, but certain tool positions appear to place the lever in a very awkward position - sometimes over the work. I haven't worked out yet whether this is adjustable or not.
Also - Buy some extra 250-001 holders! You will probably want them!

as described. Pretty easy to use. Set up was simple,but you need to make or machine a T-slot nut from scratch or from the big hunk of metal they provide. i welded a couple pieces of steel bar stock and filed them to fit. Only other quibble was the clamping lever is notch-y, not smooth. Worth the money.
