It could go a slight bit louder even though it wakes me from the other side of the house, and I am hearing impaired. The lights and all annoy me from literally the other side of the house. Have not used the bed shaker yet, the alarm was an attempt to annoy tweens out of bed to begin some real responsibility before middle school when I am not at home when the bus comes. Give me some more volume to play with and it would be 5 stars. Also need a longer leash on that shaker.
I myself am a sleep mover and would tear the entire thing up, maybe it could go cordless?

After years of arguing with my teenage son about getting up, he finally wakes up by himself. He used to use his cell phone as an alarm and every morning I had to wake him. I walked in one morning and the cell phone was lying right beside his pillow and the alarm was going off for about 20 minutes. My son didn't budge. Even if you are deaf, literally, The Sonic Bomb will wake you because of the vibration. You can make it softer or louder but if you put the vibrator button under your pillow, there is no way you can sleep through it!

This alarm does what I want - it is loud to awaken me, although it sounds only moderately loud (I am very deaf, wear hearing aide, but unfortunately not in bed). It is not nearly as loud as the Screaming Meanie, but it is a lot more convenient to use, and operates on 110 VAC with 9V battery backup. The Screaming Meanie operates only on 9V battery, has a very eccentric operating system, and it has to be completely reset every night, which is a major pain. But anyone who is deaf as a stone statue might prefer it to the Sonic Alert. The Sonic Alert allows setting 2 different alarm times, to get up in the middle of the night to take a kid with leaky bladder to the toilet and again in the morning to arise for the new day. BTW, the battery backup does NOT sound the alarm, I have thoroughly investigated this feature. It ONLY powers the clock and alarm settings if the power goes off. If your alarm is set for 6:30 AM and the power goes off at 6:25 and stays off until 6:35, it not go off until the power comes back on, IF you have set the alarm duration for 30 minutes (which is how it comes from the factory). If you only set the alarm duration for 5 minutes, it won't sound when the power comes back on. So, play it safe, leave the alarm duration set for 30 minutes. You might be late for work, but at least you will get there. I haven't tried the shaker, maybe if my hearing gets worse, I will give it a try.

Wish I could give this 3.5 stars.. Works as advertised. Very loud and vibration can be felt from under mattress. However, after 1.5 years it randomly died. The display is messed up, vibrates constantly, pressing any of the buttons does nothing. The unit wasn't dropped or damaged in any way. I will purchase again because it's about the only thing that wakes me up as I'm a heavy sleeper.

Bought this alarm for my husband who's a very solid sleeper. No previous alarms could wake him. This alarm is game changer. The alarm in addition to the shaker does the trick! But the shaker is what makes this product an A+ ! We place the shaker on top of his night stand & it flops everywhere waking everyone up! This is a great buy! The price has went up since we 1st bought it, I guess because of the popularity of the product. But when the 1st one we bought went out, we didn't hesitate to buy another as soon as we could! If you struggle waking up buy this alarm clock!
