I was really looking forward to having a great set of cast iron skillets. I grabbed these because they say that they are preseasoned, and I was nervous about going through seasoning them myself. However, mine did not come preseasoned. I have not even had a chance to even use them because I do not want to mess them up by trying to season them myself, and they have rusted just sitting in a dry cabinet. I also worry about how short the handles are. I guess I will have to chalk it up to "you get what you paid for". I am sure they will be fine once I do get around to seasoning them, but I am disappointed that they are advertised as preseasond when they aren't.

These are great. I purchased these seasoned and they came seasoned. However I was confused by it since the instructions also mentioned how to season them. So I thought do I need to still season these? That would be no. They are perfect. But I did add a bit more seasoning to them...so that they would be slicker. For the price you cannot go wrong. So far I'm loving them. I use them on my induction cookplate which is a good combination. Would recommend these to anyone who just doesn't have any cast iron cookware.

For the price, you can't beat it! I love the fact that this came as a complete set. The lid is particularly nice to have, and the scrapers too. Some things to note though, the pan measures 12" on the top so the cooking surface is only ~10" or so. When seasoning using their instructions, make sure you place the pan upside down in the oven (if you don't you'll get a sticky pool of oil on one side or another). The pan comes "pre-seasoned" but you MUST season it yourself or food will stick all the time. I much prefer to season with bacon fat (or other animal fat). Use a light coating and get the pan smoking a little on the stove then turn off, let cool, and repeat a few times. I also always leave a thin layer of fat (again usually bacon, maybe you're noticing a theme here) on the bottom after cooking. The other thing to note is that the silicone hot handles don't work as great as I thought they would, particularly with a gas stove when the heat sometimes goes around the sides. I usually pull the main silicone handle off a little bit while cooking and leave the other one off completely until I need to use it.
The biggest mistake(s) people make while using cast iron is not seasoning the pan enough before using and not letting the pan heat up before adding your food. If you add eggs to a cold pan and try to scramble them or flip them you'll have one of the most aggravating experiences ever. Always preheat the pan before use and you'll love cooking with cast iron in no time!

My family loves cast iron cookware so I've finally got me one as well! A piece of advice, all cast iron skillets (or any cookware really) are pretty heavy so if you have arthritis or just don't like heavy cookware - don't choose cast iron. Also, cast iron cookware requires care, read up on how to maintain it before you buy it. It is a very durable product, you can use it anywhere ( stove top, oven, camp fire). The price is right and overall it's a Great value! Very happy!

I was a hesitant to purchase this pan. I am not familiar with the name and the inclusion of holders, lid, and scrubber/scrapers made the price a little to good to be true. Granted I have only used it a few times so far, it has exceeded my expectations. The pan is well made and virtually indistinguishable from any other cast iron pan I have. I did take the time to wash and season the pan as described on the box and in the cookbook and it cooks well. As with most cast iron it should continue to improve with more seasoning. The glass lid fits/works well but I would not use it over 350 degrees as I do not believe it can handle the higher temps. It does require you to install the handle which comes in a separate bag. The silicone holders work well but the heat can overcome them if holding a hot pan for more than a few minutes. When installed the holders are not a tight fit. They are a little loose which makes popping them on and off easy but also allows them to move while on the pan. Overall I am happy with this setup. It performs well and includes everything I needed to cook and care for the pan.
