Basically a low-powered hand-vac on a stick. Not what it looks like.

Don't be fooled by the Dirt Devil name. This LOOKS like a sleek vacuum, but the price should tip you off ... This is a low-powered, corded hand vacuum that has a long stick attachment (making it LOOK like an upright.)
But it has very little suction, and the brush roller is there for cosmetics ... It's not powerful enough to suck up anything more than dust-bunnies.
If you're looking for a nice-looking contraption to pick up dust-bunnies, this will do. If you're looking for a VACUUM CLEANER, this isn't it.

I still like this vacuum but after buying a 3rd one as a gift for my brother, I have to update my review. Both my son and brother liked the vacuum but after about a month of use it stopped working as well as it did at the beginning. The brushes wouldn't turn when on the correct setting. They each bought replacement units. For the past week, I've been having the exact same problem. The tiniest bit of thread wrapped around the roller makes it stop. I guess I am more patient, I keep cleaning it and using it. I can't complain too much because of the pretty low price, but I won't buy another of this same model.
Great little vacuum with a lot of functionality, especially considering the low price! This is the second one I've purchased, my son took the first one to his college apartment. It's so light weight and easy to use, vacuuming is quick and easy, much less of a chore than dragging out the full size vacuum. Highly recommend!

Very small vac. Fine for my very small city apartment but would never function in my full home. Lightweight, small, effective, but fragile. UPDATE: I purchased this for my 700sqf apartment where I work out of town (not my home); I'm adding this update after 9 months of approx. light weekly use the brush-head intermittently stops working. I expect it will soon fail. I originally gave this 4/5 stars but am downgrading to 2/5 because 1) lightweight unit is NOT durable under the lightest conditions and 2) the very small bagless filter clogs quickly. It was just too good to be true; small, light, trim design at this price; this unit will end up in the trash and I'll replace it with a real vacuum cleaner.

It works ok, I have used much better and would not purchase again. You cannot use with pet hair unless you use the roller brush the entire time, the hair will just get stuck in the brush roller and not actually get sucked inside. My brush roller has now quit working after only about 2 months of use. Not very happy.I returned this item and was never contacted back about a return. Amazon ended up refunding me because the seller would not take care of the issue. Do not purchase this.
So disappointed in this vacuum.

Disappointing. This vacuum has little to offer, other than looking nice and sleek. The brush roller stopped spinning immediately out of the box on first use. So I tried cleaning out the brush really thoroughly, and it spun again for a minute or so and then stopped again. Without the brush rolling, the suction laughably weak almost as if the brush prevents it from sucking up dirt. If I bought this in a store I'd return it, that's how much I dislike this thing. My last Dirt Devil was awesome, lasted 3 years and went until the motor gave out. What the heck happened to quality?!
