Our fox those squirrels!

I couldn't find anything to keep the squirrels from climbing my shepherd's hook and on to my bird feeder. This Slinky type devise has been working for at least 3 years, through sun and snow and lots of squirrels. When it stretched some, I turned it upside down, shortened it by attaching it with 3 loops and it will go another 3 years.
Good idea. Ineffective

Works great! I have two of these, one that I attached to the pole for the suet feeder, and another one for the pole for my birdfeeder. This morning I watched a squirrel try to climb up the pole and through the slinky but couldn't. Then it tried to climb on top of the slinky and slid down. It was a bit comical to watch but it worked. I secured it on the pole with electrical tape which I advised to do so.
This works better than the usual squirrel baffles

This works better than the usual squirrel baffles. The goldfinches like to land on it, ride, then move over to the feeder. The squirrels have attempted it without success. Either than get on it, it starts a vigorous spring action-enough that they jump off quickly.. Most looked at it but decided not to even try. On my regular shepherd's hook I used electrical tape, several layers, as the tie that came with it can slide with it. That works great. One hook has a decorative top that can be used to swing the spring over after bringing it over the shepherd's crook. The squirrels are not even trying after a few attempts. This works ! And is so much fun to watch the initial attempts.
