The Granberg Alaskan Chainsaw Mill MKIV is the best. So much better than the off brand knockoffs. There are cheap alternatives, but none offer the stability and quality of Granberg. A chainsaw mill is a dangerous tool. Please don't pick price over value. Better safe than sorry!

Bought a stihl 661 36" bar to use with this and milled several oaks. Just made boards 2 inches thick and maxed out at 30 inches wide. Used it on stihl 362 20" bar for smaller stuff. Used an old aluminum ladder for guide. Continued using ladder laid on top of cuts to keep a clean riding surface and more uniformed cuts.

Assembly wasn't terrible. Took about 30-40 minutes to put together. Setup with the saw was also pretty quick. I have a 395XP, so one disappointment is the need to remove the saw to tension the chain every few cuts. You can't get to the screw with it in the saw mill and because of where the screw sits, I can't drill a whole for access. Milled about 30 boards the first afternoon and the mill worked perfectly otherwise. Very happy with the purchase.
