Definitely makes the Joy-Con more comfortable to play with. I decided on this grip because I wanted the shoulder buttons obvious and comfortable to press. Good decision, because games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe heavenly rely on them so you want comfortable for long sessions. Even in games that make shoulders optional like Puyo Puyo Tetris, having the shoulder buttons obvious makes it easy to remember to take advantage of.
I kind of wish they make the ZL/L and ZR/R buttons accessible just in case developers take advantage of the extra buttons, but that is highly unlikely.
