Awesome mount for the Uniden R3

Awesome mount for the Uniden R3. The release tab on the sector is rendered useless with this mount. But the positive and tight firmest keeps the decector secure. Very little vibration while driving.

I used this on my Tundra with a Uniden R3.
I knew going in to this that the manufacturer said it wont work with the R3 but that others have gotten it to work. They were right, the clip that goes into the radar detector is way too big to fit into the slot. I used the suction cup mount (with the suction cups removed) that came with it, and put a couple washers on the short machine screws that were provided and made it work.
My other gripe, is that that the screws that hold the clamp pieces together (it comes with 2 different lengths) are either too short or two long. I can see the tops of the long screws stick above my mirror. Couldn't have hurt to thow in a extra nickels worth of a medium length machine screw.
I guess i could grind it down to length, but its not the end of the world.

Ok mount, but clip doesn't fit newer Uniden models(R1/R3)...

The mount is ok, but I don't like the teeth on the pieces that clamp to your RVM mount. It will put some nice marks on it. They need to switch to something more like Blendmount.
As for the clip, as others have mentioned, it does NOT work with the Uniden R1/R3. Yes it does insert but it is too short to clip in. While some leave it that way, some have discovered that leaving it this way, without clicking in, will eventually bend/warp the internal clip so that it won't clip anything in later because the clip has been pushed down, out of the way for so long.
However, as someone did mention here, you can use the Uniden bracket from the 2 suction cup mount. This will attach fine using the included screws and act as your bracket for this. I bumped it up to 4 stars because of this but they need to include an updated clip for the newer R1/R3's
