I can't say enough about this shovel! I just love it. I live in Michigan with nasty clay soil that is just impossible to shovel. I also am doing a landscaping project and have to dig in a bed of lava rock. This little shovel laughs at those clumps of soil, small roots and rocks. It just tears through it all in no time and no effort. It's made the project easier on my back too. I'm 5'2" and this is perfectly sized for me. It's not too big, too heavy or odd to use. It's comfortable, and well balanced too. I saw various reviews of people saying they couldn't believe they were this excited about a shovel and were willing to pay so much for a shovel. I felt the same way until I used it. Worth every penny and I wish I had it years ago.

This product was bought after we moved to a new house that had extensive gardens around the entire house/ During the moving process, the gardens got very little attention and we finally had to bring in a professional to help get things under control. My wife wanted to work with the gardener and learn as they went. One of the first things she realized was that our garden tools were woefully inadequate. The gardener used this precise spade and recommended it to my wife. It is well-made and extremely useful.

This spade works, no hype. I bought my first one from the manufacturer at a garden show and was so impressed after I used it for a few weeks that I bought a second through Amazon. It is most useful for slicing through turf like butter. I cut through hundreds of feet of turf as I edge my beds. Before the Spear Head Spade, I used a flat bladed spade and often had to jump repeatedly on the foot rest to get it to cut through green grass. I also used a purpose-made half moon edger which was just slow going. No more. The Spear Head Spade requires much much less effort and will cut edges straight or curved. Great tool.

I used it for only about 1 hours, but it was enough to be amazing what this thing can do.

To start with, I live in a more isolated area and my soil is full of rocks and roots. Before learning about this spade, I had to use a number of different tools in order to dig a fair size hole to plant a tree. It not only took a lot of time but was exhausting as well.

Then, I learned about this spade at one of the Spring flower/garden shows in my area. I ordered one through amazon shortly after. Yesterday, I had the change to use it for the first time. I could not believe how much easier it was to cut through all the obstacles in my soil. It not only cuts through roots mostly with ease, but all the rocks slide either right into it or around it. I was amazing how much more I was able to accomplish with this single took vs all the tools I had to use before + more time.

$50 may sound expensive for a shovel / spade so I was a little hesitant to buy at first. After trying it, I think its worth every penny and I would not hesitate to buy another one if this one ever breaks.

The Spearhead spade cuts through hard Georgia clay like a hot knife through butter! I have transplanted small trees with relative ease thanks to my new garden spade.
It is very sturdy...get lost, little shovels!
