Only opener that would fit; easy install; works great

I have support beam in my garage right where a "normal" chain drive garage door opener would go. As such, this is the only door opener that fits in my garage. It was a fairly easy install; took me about 3 hours which included the time to neatly tack the wires to the walls. I really like the automatic lock that is set every time the door is closed. Opener is quieter than other openers. It easily opens my small garage door but due to the slow speed that starts and finishes (opening/closing) the door, it sounds like it is straining. It isn't straining - it's just the normal sound of an electric motor running slowing. After the door has opened a couple of inches, the motor speeds up and sounds "normal". Same thing happens on closing. One surprise I had was that I discovered my HomeLink in my 2010 Honda doesn't work with the newer frequency and codes that are used by this garage door. I could order a special repeater so that the opener could receive the signal from my car but it's not worth it. I'm just using the remote control that came with the opener.

I plan on installing a second one of these openers on my second garage door eventually.
Does what I want

I needed to change out my standard OH garage door opener with a side-mounted opener, so I could have the door open fully, and to eliminate overhead interference with my Four Wheel Camper. I needed to be able to enter the garage with the camper mounted, and to pop it open inside my garage. This new opener allows me to do this.

I'd read the installation instruction in advance of ordering, so that I felt that it was a project I could be successful at. As per my usual experience, I had little to no trouble with the mechanical/physical aspects of the install, and I did have some issues with the electrical.

In retrospect I think the electrical installation issues were caused by the design of the wall-mounted control unit, coupled with my re-use of the home building in-wall wiring. These wires were heavier gauge and the design of the wall unit would allow the wires to contact other contacts inside the unit, if the wires had any excess length after they wound around the screw contact. After 3 hours of frustrating debug I removed and re-attached the wires on the wall unit, and then things began to perform as described in the install steps in the instruction manual.

The only issue I have experienced in use is that on very cold mornings, the door begins to close, then reverses after just a few inches of travel. I am guessing at this point that senses some resistance and reverses to fully open position. I have just manually disconnected the door and closed it, and everything works normally an hour later when it has started to warm up. I will lubricate the door bearings and see if this corrects this rare and intermittent issue - it is possible that cold temps increase the effort to close the door enough that the device reverses.

All in all I am satisfied with my purchase and am fairly confident that the issues I have experienced are related to my specific situation, and are unlikely to occur in general with anyone else. I will say they could 'idiot proof' the design of the wall unit to prevent wires from contacting anything other than the provided contact point.
Works great, easy to install.

I recently built a new pole barn on my property and made it large enough so half is my wood shop and the other half is a garage. I wanted to make my lovely wife's life easier so I decided to have an opener put on the garage door. The local overhead door company came out and told me because I had "high lift" doors, I would need a "jack shaft" opener and it would cost me $1,500 at least. Discouraged by this, I thought my hopes of a garage door opener had been dashed. I decided to do a little research to see why these "jack shaft" openers were so expensive..... turns out they aren't Not sure what the guy was on about but I found many reviews pointing me to this opener and decided I would get it and try to install it myself. Couldn't have been easier. The actual opener only took 15 minutes to install. I had a couple more hours involved in running all the little wires for the control panel and motion sensor (I also had to run a new outlet as this opener does come with a plug on a 6' cord). It was super easy to program, super easy to install and works amazingly smoothly. It's also MUCH quieter than a chain opener. I even paired a second remote and a keypad on the outside of the door. Both done with just a few button presses. I love this thing and have never had an easier time installing anything.
Fantastic for limited space installation

This opener has been reliable and very quiet. The installation was simple and easy. My only problem was the set screws slipped on the garage door shaft a few times causing the door to not move with the opener. I had to drill a small hole in the shaft so the set screw would counter sink without just crushing the shaft. Since then the only problem has been my cat sneaking into the garage during the close cycle and making the door reverse direction. The door safety device is working properly, it is the cat that is malfunctioning.
My remote doesn't seem to have the same range as the factory remote installed in my car. That may just be a low battery in the remote as I haven't tried to change it.
Make sure the garage door opener panel is updated.

The opener is easy to install and works well. I have purchased four and they all needed updated control panels from Liftmaster. Liftmaster sent them free to me and I don't have the issue of the door opening when I'm gone now.
