Love the product, hate the packaging

This makes a great finish for furniture. I've only used the clear, but it comes in a variety of colors. It's relatively easy to apply and allows ample time before set-up. My complaint is the way it comes in two stacked tins. You mix the product 3:1 wax and hardener. The wax comes in a paint tin, so unless you're using the entire amount, you have to pour from the paint tin into a second container. This drips and you end up with gummy wax around inside rim of the tin. The hardener comes in a tin with a flexible plastic spout and screw cap. The spout collapses back into the tin so they can pack it a stack of two tins that are held together with a ring. If you don't scrupulously wipe off the spout before screwing on the cap, the cap will glue itself to spout over time. Since the spout is flexible, good luck trying to unscrew a stuck cap. I now dump the product into separate tins with regular pour caps and throw out the manufacturer's tins.
Rubio monocoat 2C pure on Cherrywood floor

I used this Pure 2C to finish 500 sq ft of raw Jatoba Cherrywood flooring. Used the rectangular buffer sander from Home Depot, $54 for the day. Used 60 80 100 grit to sand. I think a lower grit than 60 would have been better on the cherry. Took me about 6 hrs. Got the floor polisher at $42. Clean floor and anything that might have dust on it thoroughly. Also used the Rubio raw wood cleaner. Follow application video instructions. Work in 8x8 or 10x10 sections. I put it on with a red pad and off with a white pad. If the buffer starts getting hard to control when putting down the oil flip the pad over then replace next time. Work it in for at least 5 minutes than remove. The more you go over it with white pad the better it looks. Don't leave any wet spots, you want it to be dry to the touch. Overlaps or drips on raw floor all blend in. Make sure you remove any footprints or drips off of finished floor with buffer or they will cure there. Pure color has an Amber tint to it which turned out to match my hall flooring perfectly. I was a little conservative with the oil at first because it didn't look like a lot of product, but, when I got to the halfway point I realized I had't even used half of it. A softer wood is going to soak up more. It dried to a beautiful satin sheen which was exactly what I wanted. It looks oiled but has a nice hard finish to it. The additive gives you a cured floor in 7 days, without the additive 21 days. In 2 days I had a beautiful finished floor. I was able to walk on it the next morning in my socks, moved furniture back in with felt padding on everything on the third day. Was water repellent after 7 days. First time to finish a floor and am extremely happy with the outcome. Some say its pricey but with the one coat and done and no additional sanding and the ability to be on it in 1 day makes it well worth it. And to be able to touch up or refresh it without having to restrip, it was exactly what I wanted. Checked all my wants. I Highly recommend this product.
A bit tricky, but very nice.

Used this on a maple desk with a spalted sycamore open hutch. It will streak where you pour it, so spread like a fein! No instant headache- pleasant scent, so you can soon present items to customer with no worries. Wasn't really thrilled at first with the yellowish hue it added to the creamy, spalted sycamore; but client loved all of the pieces, so...
Oh, you really need two coats- difference is worth it. First pic = raw sycamore; 2nd = raw sycamore one coat Rubio on desk; 3rd = one coat Rubio on hutch; 4th = up-close on Rubio on sycamore ; 5th = 2 coats on maple didn't change its color as dramatically.. The difference in color from 1 to 4 is significant. (a custom design from Industrial Elegance)

Excellent product for new projects and restoring old floors

I started using Rubio Monocoat Pure on our furniture and just recently as a floor finish - its intended use. Our place has a mix of new (2000) and old (1885) oak flooring. It was easier to prep the new areas that had one coat of Polyurethane finish VS the old flooring that been impregnated with varnishes plus Polyurethane. Dust control became very important. Since overlapping areas of Rubio don't show it was possible to do half a room then shift the furniture and do the other side.
Pricey but so worth it

I bought this after seeing the Wood Whisperer applying it and thinking that it looked like a dummy proof finishing solution. I've used it quite a bit over the last year and this is now my go to finish. It lays down nicely, only takes one coat, and stands up well. My biggest project for this was a kitchen table and it's still looking like new after a year of hard use from small kids. Cleanup with a wet rang is a breeze. I've touched up some spots on a test board just for curiosity sake and that is super simple as well. I've gotten rid of all my VOC finishes and use this instead.
Overall, take a shot with this. It's great.
