White cooks up nicely and tastes good
Adam Wood✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 31, 2023
This White Quinoa cooks up easily per the instructions on the jar. It has a nice nutty flavor and is easy to eat plain, but I think that you may want to add some flavoring/sauce to it because it can be a bit bland on it's own.

All you have to do is bring some water to a boil, add in the Quinoa, cover and simmer for about 15 minutes, let stand for another five, then enjoy. No need to drain or anything.

With how much this expands upon cooking, this 22-ounce jar makes a lot of Quinoa.
Really is Pre-Rinsed

I'm a fan of quinoa, and the white types of quinoa do not taste much different than the other ones. Cooked properly, it's light and fluffy delicious, either own its own or as a starting point for other dishes. It's easy and quick to cook.

Quinoa needs to be rinsed before it is cooked, or it has a bitter taste. When you rinse it, it initially has a bit of foam on top, and you continue rinsing until that foam is gone. In the past, I've made the mistake of not rinsing "pre-rinsed" quinoa, and been disappointed in the results. So I rinsed this even though it didn't call for it. I was surprised that there was almost none of that soapy foam, and I do think it can be cooked without rinsing it at home first.

This is non-GMO, which is good, but it is not organic. You'll have to compare prices to see whether you think this is a good deal because prices fluctuate quite a bit for some producs.
Good taste....

I've enjoyed this quinoa. I have tried some varieties that I didn't care for, but I like the taste of this one. I got to try the white quinoa, which is generally milder in taste and less crunchy than other colors. It's a wonderful and healthier alternative to white rice in dishes. I still eat brown rice on occasion, but quinoa allows me to mix it up a bit. It's quick and easy to prepare. When I don't feel like cooking past the minimum, it's easy to add some veggies with it in a bowl and call it a meal, since quinoa gives a complete protein(containing all required amino acids), unlike rice.

We eat a lot of quinoa in our household. This quinoa comes in a plastic jar and seems to be a medium size white quinoa grain. We were very pleased with it. It says that it's pre-washed and when cooked it doesn't leave any residue. You cook it much like you would rice, except that quinoa is easier because it doesn't leave a nasty sticky goo that sticks and burns the way rice sometimes does. (And yes, I know there are rice cookers for that.)

How much you need with your meal varies. What we found was that with two people, half a cup of quinoa and 3-4 times as much water is good for a side of quinoa each while a whole cup is good for two as part of the main dish instead of rice or potatoes. We often combine it with a bean, corn, tomato stew that we cook in a crockpot once or twice a week and eat over several days. The quinoa takes approximately 15 minutes to cook which gives us just enough time to make coffee and feed our dogs before our dinner is ready.

It seems to be great for our digestive system and even corrects things when we run into problems"”as we recently did with a Chinese take-out. So we are staunch believers in it and this is a good quality brand. Like rice, it's a bit bland so we usually put it to boil with some spices. We use some freshly ground salt, pepper, maybe a little garlic and some curry powder adds a little flavor.

Price wise this isn't the cheapest available but it's affordable compared to our local supermarket and the quality is good.

I recommend it.
