I received this paracord emergency kit a few days ago and have played around with the compass several times. The compass seems to give a true reading and I have not had any issues with it. The compass is large enough so I do not have to squint to see the reading, as well. There is much more paracord than I expected yet the item is really light. I clipped it on the side of my backpack and I think it will be great to have in case of emergency. There are so many uses for paracord (wrapping an injury, using as a climbing rope, etc.) and I'm glad to have some now just in case I ever need it. It takes up hardly any room and I really like the dark green color. The carabiner seems to be good quality. The paracord is wrapped really well and I do not think I will have to worry about it coming unraveled on its own. I think this should be a part of everyones emergeny kit no matter if they are a hiker, biker, kayaker, or whatever their adventure choice is. It is always best to be prepared because we all know how Murphy's Law works.

This is a well constructed grenade. When I first got it in the mail, I had to "loosen" up the inside pocket a little bit and just kind of stretch it out (you need to do this with any paracord grenade). The carabiner is actually a good quality. I expected it to be the kind that you touch and it falls apart, but it's not. I also like the additional loop that you can hook over the compass. It's a nice feature to prevent the contents from spilling. The grenade itself is about 3.5" in length (not counting the carabiner). In the inside, you can comfortably fit a lighter (just an example) with a little bit of room to spare. The compass is a nice little added feature. A lot of grenades do not come with a compass... it gives it the "cool" effect. The 550 paracord is very durable, and I can not tell where it ends on here, so it was put together very well. It doesn't look like it will come apart anytime soon. The price is pretty attractive as well, most are a good deal more (without the compass). I purchased this product for my son. He likes to go hiking and does a lot of camping. He's always looking for little gadgets and things to bring along with him. When I gave him this he thought it was pretty cool. He liked it because it was easy to carry, it clips right onto a backpack or even a pant loop. He began looking around for things that he could place inside. Some waterproof matches, a small knife and a string saw fit inside the para cord grenade. We tested out the compass and it seems to be pretty accurate, although it's not the highest quality of compasses, it does give you an accurate reading and can be very helpful while hiking. The records themselves, that make up the piece are very strong and are of good quality. This is a product that should last quite a while and be nice addition to a camping trip. I received this product at a discount and and happy with the quality and functionality of it.
