Bought for my boss, the man who has everything.  This is one thing he didn't have!  He can check the date and time at a glance while sitting at his desk or from anywhere in his office really.  It currently resides on his credenza.  The screen is non-reflective matte and is legible whether the sun is shining on it (see pic) or the lights are off or anywhere in between.  Made a good (and useful!) gift.  Arrived with the date and time already set, but it's very easy to reset either.  No opinion about the alarm function since that won't be used.

I would buy more if the price were more reasonable- I'd say by at least half.  But the functionality is worth it.  It's helpful to anyone and everyone without limitation.  If you're pondering this purchase, I'd say yes, you'll probably be happy with it.

Bought one of these for a loved one with cognitive issues in an assisted living. It has worked well to limit confusion about time and date.
Now the problems and the reason for the 2 star rating
This smart clock DOES NOT HAVE AUTOMATIC DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME CORRECTION. this is a major problem twice a year. This is not trivial when family has to make arrangements to enter the assisted living facility after hours to adjust the clock manually so the loved one doesn't get confused due to the time being wrong.
Second problem: if the power goes off, the clock goes blank. It does have memory backup so when power comes back on, the clock comes back with the correct time. What it needs, in these days of lithium ion batteries, enough battery capacity to keep the display active for a half hour or so to ride through short power outages.
The manufacturer needs to realize that devices like this are depended on very heavily by those who need them. Think of your customers and your responsibility to them. Charge more for the clock, brag about the new features.

Initially it was great. I liked that it dimmed a bit at night. I liked the added morning, afternoon, evening line. I have another, similar clock by a different maker that doesn't add the morning, afternoon, etc.--it just says a.m. and p.m. I also really liked the gray marble finish frame. However, after about 8 months it starting going on the fritz. The first time the screen just went blank--but was still lit up with a backlight. I unplugged it for several hours and it reset itself. The second, third, and fourth times I did the same thing. Today, the fifth time, the clock appears to be dead. I've contacted the seller to see if they will honor the one year unlimited warranty. I purchased the clock November 7, 2016 to give as a Christmas present to my husband, who has dementia. I am waiting to hear from the seller. Feature-wise, I LOVE the clock and think every house would benefit from one. You don't have to look at your watch or phone, day, time, date are all right there. Forget it being a memory clock. It is nice to have the information there when I am writing checks, updating my calendar, etc. I'm just sorry it didn't last longer.

There are a lot of things that I really love about this clock. Firstly, the high contrast display is amazing, and it's very easy to read from any angle. I also love how much information is displayed on the clock. The clock very prominently displays the day of the week, the time of day, and the date. I especially appreciate that the date is fully written out rather than abbreviated with numbers and slashes, which ensures that there is no confusion about what the date is.

If you are not happy with the default display settings, this clock is also highly customizable, much more so than any other clock I have ever owned. In the menu, you have the option of choosing the time format (12 hr or 24 hr), changing the date format (reording month/day/year), and toggling the period of the day on or off.

Among the other settings are an auto dimmer, an hourly chime, and a color toggle (you can choose between a yellow or white display). This clock also supports up to five daily alarms, each of which supports a customizable message, which seems pretty cool, but I usually just use my cell phone for setting alarms, so I didn't have an opportunity to mess around with the alarm features on this clock.

But ultimately, the reason I purchased a clock in the first place was so that I would know what time it was, and unfortunately this clock runs really fast compared to all of the other clocks that I have in my house. I've only had this clock for about a month, and it's already almost 2 minutes ahead of all my other clocks. By the time I noticed how much time the clock was gaining, I was already outside of the 30 day return window that Amazon offers, so I tried contacting American Lifetime about my problem. However, they said that since I purchased this product from Amazon Warehouse Deals, I was not eligible for their 1 year warranty.

So as much as I love this clock, it unfortunately does not fulfill its intended functional purpose, and for that reason I have to give it a low rating.

Not happy with this product. Was great first few weeks, then volume decreased to the point it is not useful for my elderly mother. I messaged company for help and they have not replied. I expect more for a $50 clock.
