Perfect Device. Well built, Super easy to clean!

We had a similar (more commercial) version of this growing up and missed how well it shredded cheese (which is just better than pre-shredded, in my opinion) and I watched this one for a few weeks before just buying it impulsively. Well, I finally pulled the trigger and bought one. The suction to the counter it super strong yet easy to disengage. The body, blade and handle design is so simple, yet makes it so easy to clean... literally have this cleaned in under 30 seconds after shredding a single potato for some late night hash browns. I highly recommend it. Large enough to shred 20 potatoes when needed and small enough to just shred one potato without dreading the clean up.
Surprisingly simple and does the job quickly!

So, I bought this little gizmo because it was cute, and hoped it actually worked. My box arrived, and I was hesitant to open it, thinking I had lost my mind and just needed to return it. But, alas, I forged forward on Saturday morning and used it to shred potatoes.
I figured if it could handle potatoes, it was good to go.
It surprised me with how simple it was to "put together" and even easier to use. The base suctions to your countertop, so you aren't fighting to hold it still, crank the handle and press down on the thingamajig ( technical term). The handle turned easily. The o my muscle was to use the thingamajig to press on the food to the grater. But a whole lot less muscle than is used to manually shred on a box shredder.
A whole LOT less muscle. This thing worked like a dream! In less time than it would have taken to shred one potato manually on a box shredder, I shred 5 with this nifty gizmo!!!! No joke.
Try it...you will love it.

Great for cauliflower rice...

I bought this because we are eating keto now and my old food processor does a terrible job of grating cauliflower and makes a huge mess. This drum slicer does a great job making cauliflower rice quickly and with hardly any clean up time. We just love that cauliflower rice. It also chops walnuts well. I use the coarse shredder drum for both of these. The blades are very dull, and the slicer blade is pretty useless for me. I prefer my V mandolin for slicing. It just mangled zucchini. It can cut carrots, but the blade is so dull (I can run my finger along the blade without the slightest danger) that you really have to turn the handle hard and it popped apart a couple of times until I got the knack of how to turn it. Nothing like that happens with cauliflower and walnuts with the coarse shredding drum. It should do OK with potatoes, but we are not eating them on the keto diet.
If you want to grate potatoes or cauliflower or nuts, then this will do the job. I am happy with it because it does what I bought it for.

The hopper broke the first time we used it. Cheap plastic junk. If you want something that will hold up buy a steel retro unit on the big auction site for the same money. That's what I'm going to do.

DO NOT HESITATE to buy this gadget -- it's WONDERFUL! I've used it to grate cheese and chocolate, and it's turned messy tedious jobs into quick tidy jobs! After each use, I've disassembled it in seconds, and put the parts directly into the dishwasher. MUCH easier to use and clean than my food processor! Don't hesitate to buy it -- you'll love it, too!
