I'm a snow bird in Tucson and conveniently left my only non-dorky Costco-bought wide-brimmed hat in Seattle - a place where wide-brimmed hats go to die. A frantic search on Amazon and I found this alternative, a light weight, side-venting wide-brim hat a la Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter. The hat has an adjustable band inside that fits to all head shapes. The vents are great (my Costco hat didn't have one). Plus, I just discovered today that the hat is rather water-proof, when my husband decided to dump a bottle of water on my head after a ten-mile hike, no doubt a loving gesture brought about by an immense heat stroke (he wasn't wearing one of these Hippih Waterproof Sun Hat, his loss).

Has the UV protection and is a very wide brimmed hat. Love the chin strap for wind, which can be tucked in the hat if it's not windy and you don't want it to show. The brim is not "floppy" it's harder and sturdy, which I like. My last sun hat got so misshapen after washing it just flopped around my
face. Looked like a handmaid's tale gal.

My wife wanted a sun hat she could wear in breezy weather that would stay in place and the brim would not flap around or be blown out of shape. She has tried several other sun hats, but none worked to her satisfaction in breezy/windy conditions. I bought this hat for her and she loves it. It is comfortable, has a strap to hold it in place in the wind and the brim is wide enough for excellent sun protection, yet stiff enough so it does not flap around in windy conditions. She also likes that the side vents help her head stay cool on long walks in the Arizona sun. She highly recommends this hat.

Awesome fit, excellent quality and exceptional for the price. Women's hats are usually too large for me in the store ... I am not a small person- 5'9", so I'm not sure why that is; but this fits perfect. Not too tight so it'll never be uncomfortable but I can also adjust the strap in the top portion of the hat to hold it on better if it's a bit breezy abc I don't want to tighten the chin strap. The brim stays nice like in the picture unlike some other ladies that get wavy. I machine washed and dried it when I got it on regular (warm wash perm press dry) and it came out great. Highly recommend.

Rating is based on initial use. Bought this hat for my trip to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. The hat I received had a defective chin strap - it didn't lock into place - but I still brought it along because I didn't have time to buy another hat. It was perfect for our summer hike! The brim was wide enough to shield my face and nape from the sun; at the same time, the material was breathable. When I got back from my trip, I contacted the seller regarding the chin strap issue. They were very friendly and responsive. They sent me a 99% discount code for the item so that I could purchase it again. I know it's not ENTIRELY free, but really... what is 13 cents these days? :o)
