Perfect for cats recovering from surgery

I purchased this litter pan for my 6 year old cat who had surgery to repair a luxating patella in her right stifle joint. When she first came home it became instantly evident she would not be able to use her normal litter pan. The sides were too steep for her to enter using her recovering leg, and the "low" ones I had were made for kittens and my cat did not have enough room to maneuver her injured leg around. This solved everything. The entrance is low enough that she can get in and out comfortably, and the surrounding sides are steep enough that she doesn't have an accident over the side of the pan. It's large enough that she's able to move around and get her leg comfortable to do her business. It wipes clean very easily. I can't think of a con. I have a litter mat just in front of the low opening and it catches all the loose litter. I just vacuum that every couple of days and there's no mess. I plan to keep this and replace my other litter boxes with this style as well even after my cat finishes her surgery recovery.

I cannot believe what a great litter box this is!!!! My 10-yr old Siamese, who is METICULOUS about her potty and grooming habits has some arthritis issues and other boxes were just too high for her to step in and out of with ease and she was having accidents outside the litter box, which was also too small for her to move around in comfortably and this box is fantastic! She has had no problems using this box, and as others have said, she has her dignity back! I wish I could thank the person who came up with the idea of such a big litter box that is also just the right height, because it is the only one out there! I have researched for quite awhile trying to find the right box and this is it!

This is awesome. I have a 16 year old cat that I could not figure out why she has using the restroom right outside the litter box. Her whole life, I never had an issue with this. I was talking to my mom about this and she reminded me that Kitty is getting old and with her arthritis may not be able to get into regular litter boxes anymore. I wasn't sure about it because she is still able to jump up on lower items, but I went online and found this and it was a miracle; she is now going in the litter box again. I thanked my mom and wrote this review because I am grateful that someone out there is thinking about older cats' needs.
