Quiet and attractive

Let me help make one thing really clear: this watch is not TECHNICALLY as slim as it looks in its product pictures. That said, the edges ARE that thin. It's a little thicker in the center of the watch face, to accommodate the watch mechanics - it tapers out towards the sides, which still fully gives the impression that the whole watch is that slim.

That said, I've caught a lot of compliments on this watch. The slimness and smooth, gunmetal finish on the body (I got the black one) make for a really understated, but confident look. The band, while not being the most quality band I've experienced on a watch, still looks really good.

Let me clarify on the band - it's by no means bad for the price. The clasp to open it is very stiff, and for the first dozen times, I had to struggle to unclasp the watch. The clasp to resize it is equally stiff, though that's not as big a deal.
If I had to change anything, it would be a little easier to open the clasp, and the Tonnier branding on the watchface would be a little more subtle. Regardless, it's a good-looking watch. The time is accurate, and it's WHISPER-quiet, which I love.
Very Nice

I like it. The face fits my wrist fine - it is a tad bit on the large size - it's 1 and 11/16's across from edge to the end of the crown. I like the simplicity. The hands are vey slim and there is not second hand. There are no numbers as can be seen but the hour markings are very well polished so they stand out quite nicely. The watch coating is a nice dull black (I don't care for shiny watches). The black band is shiny but the way it is made it is not super shiny and compliments the watch very well. I like the band a lot BUT it is a bugger to size the first time. The watch comes with a small screw driver like tool (one could use a very small screw driver as well) and is used to "pry" the one catch up so the sizing mechanism slides. I was afraid at first the tool would bend the sizing bar but it did not and it seemed very strong. Just take your time and read the instructions and it sizes fine. The watch is thin, about a 1/32 over a quarter inch thick.

I don't "love it" like the 5th star indicates but had nothing to complain about so gave it 5 stars. I plan on only wearing it for dress so it should lasst well. If you like the picture, I think you'll like the watch.
Not bad, especially fore the price.

So far it keeps time well. It's a good, slim look and feel. I'm glad i got the black and gold, it stands out and gives it a luxury look.

It doesn't have a second hand (something that would give away it being cheap) and i think i'd prefer if it didn't have the brand logo. Also, without the second hand, it's hard to tell how much time loss i'm getting over long periods of time. Other than that, it's a solid watch I rock while the price point puts it at less of a commitment.
A nice dress watch on a budget

There are a slew of minimalist dress watches around this same price point, so I figured I'd compare them for the sake of those looking for this sort of watch and are unsure what sets them apart:

Tonnier: Watch looked nice in person, the bright gold was flashy and easy to read. Came with a cheap but nice metal mesh band and a small tool which made it easy to adjust. But, with my small wrist there was a lot of excess band tucked under and it rubs on the inside of my wrist more than I would like. This is my pick of the three dress watches for an eye-catching wrist accessory.

Biden: watch was pretty good looking in person, not too much bling but nice. The band is fairly easy to adjust, but a little long for my small wrist so the extra tucked under the band rubs a bit more than I'd like. The biggest downside to this watch for me was the glass is actually slightly bulbous, so it sticks above the frame of the watch, looks a little silly to me, and seems like it could get scratched easily. This watch had slightly nicer packaging than the Takyae or Tonnier.

Takyae: Watch itself looked good in person, not too flashy but still on the classy side. The glass sits flush with the frame of the watch and overall the watch has a nice minimalist profile. The band felt very very cheap and I would stay away from this one as a gift. If you've got a replacement band on hand then this could be just as nice as the Biden or Tonnier.

All of these watches were nice and light, fairly minimalist, had the exact same diameter, and felt just a little bit cheap to me. I don't think anyone would spot them as a bargain watch at a glance, but I wouldn't try to impress the boss with one of these. Also, the hands on all of them appeared a little wimpy and I wouldn't count them holding up a decade, but for the price they're perfectly fine.

The Tonnier gets 5 Stars because it's was my favorite dress watch in the price range, it's easy to set, read, adjust, and just toss on in the morning.

Now, while the Tonnier was my favorite of the dress watches I also compared it with a more casual watch made by Viable Harvest. The Tonnier would clearly be the winner here for a dress watch, but I prefer the Harvest watch for casual use because it's much less flashy. The Harvest is also 1mm or 2mm smaller in diameter, but a little taller in the body. I thought the smaller diameter also looked better with my small wrists. For the price it wouldn't break the bank to buy both, but if I had to choose only one I'd go with the Viable Harvest since it goes with more styles.
Once you put it on you'll have a hard time taking it off (in a good/bad way)

I love this watch as a formal wear type. It's classy and it's thin enough to not be poking behind your dress cuffs/sleeves. It is almost as tough as soft iron, meaning it doesn't scratch easily unless you're trying to do it on purpose. It can feel uncomfortable on your wrist at times but that's the nature of a time piece. This review is missing one star because of one reason. The watch is difficult to put on and even more harder to take off. I think it's real nice to know it will NOT FALL OFF your arm once you successfully put it on. But if you were in a security check situation (for example an airport) you will have a hard time taking off your watch and will take at least 5-10 seconds to place it back on. Sometimes the device connecting the straps will not budge by fingers and human strength alone and I was forced to use their tool provided as leverage. Even just wanting to take it off before a shower/etc will take a while. You CANNOT lose that tool they have provided you. Or you will be having a hard time. But other than that, it's a perfect watch for formal events like a ball. But I believe I will find a second watch to fit my lifestyle of constant on/off wear and something I will not be afraid to get dirty with.
