Our new mattress is a bit soft for me to sleep on my back, but any firmer won't work for my husband as he's a side sleeper.
However, placing this pillow under my knees when sleeping on my back prevents me from waking up with sharp lower back pain. It's the perfect height to take some pressure off the lower back without being large enough to have trouble getting accustomed to it. The width is also ideal as there is plenty of space for me without being wide enough to intrude into my husband's half of the bed. Firmness is also perfect.
My only complaints are it was compressed in the packaging so it couldn't be used right away, even after fully expanding it doesn't completely fill the pillowcase, and the pillowcase is very cheaply made.

This firmed up just fine after removing from vacuum sealed bag. No odor, soft cover. The cover is pretty, but a darker color wouldn't need to be washed as often. I haven't tried washing it yet. A handle on one of the ends would really be nice - I'll have to create one myself when the cover is removed for laundry.

I bought two of these for my 99 year old dad. We move them around under knees, ankles, sides, neck--whatever is needed to make him comfortable in his hospital bed. I just ordered one for myself for my aching knees. I like that the covers are washable. They are firm but not hard. Our caregivers have ordered also. Very pleased with these pillows.
