There's a saying about taking things with a grain of salt. If you're looking for bone conduction headphones and reading reviews, take a step back when you read complaints about things like lack of bass, or any in-depth comment about audio quality. Also, be wary of any "honeymoon" reviews where the reviewer throws up their thoughts after just a couple of days. We live in an amazing era of being able to buy very specialized earphones, and Trekz excel at what they're designed to do.
I've had these for about 5 months and use them almost every day at work. In an office setting, these things are freaking awesome. At moderate volumes, there's very little sound leaking. Your neighbor might be able to tell you're listening to something, but it's not much different from having regular headphones in that they wouldn't know exactly what you're playing. I often like to have a 2nd screen playing TV shows, movies or YouTube videos in the background while I work. But I still want to be able to hear what's going on around me. Trekz absolutely shines in a scenario like this. I was hesitant to spend the money on these at first (let's face it, these are quite expensive for what they are). After all these months, however, I can say I have zero regret over their cost.
The sound quality is very clear and very usable. You won't get overwhelming bass because that's just not possible with the laws of physics. At least, not without incredibly irritating vibration against your head. Everything I've listened to (including some music) has been crystal clear. And I don't have to be isolated from everything else going on around me. If you crank the volume up, you will also crank up the vibration. That's just the nature of how they work. At loud volumes, you'd also have a tougher time shifting focus between sound emanating from the Trekz or from your surroundings.
One great use I've found for them is with videoconferencing. If you do a lot of VC meetings like me, these are fantastic. Since I can hear myself clearly, I don't end up shouting at my screen like with anything noise isolating (or active cancellation). Instead, I speak with a normal, conversational volume.
In most cases, I can make it through a work day using them without having to recharge. Spoken audio doesn't tax the battery all that much and even with a heavy meeting day, I don't have to recharge mid-day. But music, TV and movies will draw more battery. So the one (and really, only) complaint I have is that I would have happily traded a couple extra grams of weight to get an increase in battery life.
Oh, and if you carry these around in a backpack like I do, get an aftermarket case for them. The one that comes with them is fine for light protection, but if they're in a compartment with tons of other stuff, you'll want something more substantial. I'd recommend the one made by Hermitshell, sold here on Amazon.

I liked them while they lasted

I very rarely do reviews, but I wanted to mention my experience with these headphones. I bought these headphones in June of 2021. I really liked using them with my android phone until January 2023. I used them almost daily for close to two years. Battery life is great. The sound is great. Then suddenly I stopped being able to connect to my phones bluetooth consistently. The pause button quite working. I have to turn it off and back on several times to hear the sound, even if I just briefly pause it. Overall, I like them but for $100 seems like they should have lasted at least two years.
Great Tech, Well Executed, Good Find

2.5 months in. These are comfortable and convenient. They fit well and stay on when I run. No more constant adjustment of buds popping out when I sweat. Quick and reliable connection with iPhone. Seemingly solid construction.
Most importantly I can maintain some awareness of things going on around me. I run at night and find in particular I can hear over the sound of music best. I can hear all the high pitch noises (Dog tags jingling, sprinklers, etc.) I cannot normally hear with in ear headphones or buds. I can hear car engines running even in parked cars.
I can hear words while music is playing, but unless the music is low or off it's difficult to have a conversation. Others don't know that I cannot hear them so they usually assume that I can't.
Phone calls are great. I can easily hear and be heard on the call. And I can have any easy conversation with someone in the room and on the phone at the same time.
High marks for sound cancellation because they DO NOT cancel outside sounds, which is exactly what I wanted.
I find that volume is adequate, but I'm frequently listening to music near max volume. Some songs (the rare occasion with high vocals) are noticeably distorted at high volume.
Controls are pretty nice though volume buttons are a little too small. 3 buttons do all functions including play pause and skip of apps (Pandora, Amazon Music, ITunes), and answering and hanging up calls. I don't need to get my phone out unless I need to browse for music. If connected to my iPhone I can see the Aftershokz battery level on top of the screen.
While I bought these for working out I find that I want them with me in the office if I need to focus and working around the house or garage on the weekend. I no longer have to bring a Bluetooth speaker around with me.
These would make an amazing gift for anyone who likes to listen to music outside and doesn't necessarily want to share the love with everyone around them.

neat headset

i like these. i read about this in a cycling equipment review and couldn't wait to try them. i wanted them for bike riding so I could hear cars and other traffic around me if needed. i wasn't sure based on reviews and their concept they would really work though. i try to listen to podcasts when riding, so voice/vocal clarity is important. this is a neat headset and concept. in general, i'm able to hear my podcasts at mostly volume when riding just fine. I found these to be very comfortable and you hardly know you have them on. It does fit fine under a cycling helmet. i am able to hear the sounds around me well as hoped. here are the negatives though. you only get about 3 hours to a charge. their waterproof concept was to put a flap over the usb port but it's sometimes a pain to open up and plug-in to charge. In heavy wind or traffic, I'm still not able to hear my podcasts. the buttons for volume control are small and not entirely convenient, especially under bike helmet straps. I find i really have to feel around to find the right buttons to adjust the volume at times. The loop around the back of the neck can be a small annoyance at times, but it's generally fine. On the plus, the higher/lower pitched 'boops' give me a good indication if i'm pressing the correct button. The first week I owned it, I accidentally brought it into the shower along with my helmet and other washables after a ride and even after an initial rinse when I feared I destroyed it, I found it survived just fine. I'm not giving this 5 stars because it's got some shortcomings, but it's a great quality product and I'm very happy with it overall so far.
Not as good as Titanium
Boyce Crownover✓ Verified Purchase•June 21, 2023
I received a Trekz Titanium headset some years back as a gift, as I was unwilling to invest that much without experiencing it myself. It changed my audio life. I loved them. I bought a second set so I would have one at home and one for the office. I've been completely satisfied. Then my first headset was damaged, so when ready to replace them, I looked up the options and chose AfterShokz Air. They are lighter and interesting in many ways, but the range sucks by comparison. My head is literally four feet from the broadcast device right now and reception is choppy. Moving my head around helps, but only slightly. The Titanium headset is so good that I sometimes forget where I'm connected and walk around the house without noticing any issues. If I could exchange these for the cheaper but far better option (Titanium) I would consider it. These have a place, and if you're in the sweet spot for them, they probably are your best option, but they aren't mine.
There are other competitors out there with similar features. I haven't tried them, so I don't know how they compare. I can say it is hard to beat the Titanium experience, so unless a friend tries some other company's product out and lets me compare AND if I have surprising results, I'm not going to switch. I'll use my AfterShokz Air for as many years as I get from them because they are cool and work, but I won't buy another Air headset without some compelling new experience.
I will buy the Titanium model again if my Air headset ever has a problem.
These headsets are not for everyone. They don't cancel out ambient noise. If you want that, they include earplugs, but what's the point then; just invest in good earphones that cover your ears. I hate having my ears covered. I hate having things stuck in them even more. For me the ideal experience is having a headset that is very hard to overhear, on my temples, that delivers great sound from Bluetooth at a distance. Air is half of that. When they are working perfectly, they rock. They're light and comfortable. They just suck in comparison to the other product the same company offers (in my experience). Still, I would rather use these than my noise cancelling headphones. If compared to ear buds, they're 1,000% better (for me)! But add another zero to that improvement if I can get clear audio from more than an arm's length away.
