HORRID Motion Sensor!
Mel C.✓ Verified Purchase•February 13, 2018
I had multiple Amazon packages stolen off of my front porch yesterday. This is the first time something like this has happened. Luckily, (or so I thought) I have my Zosi security camera system! I thought it would be simple to find video of the perpetrator and report him to authorities. That assumption is where my nightmare began. The camera's "motion sensor" somehow picked up the delivery man leaving my property but it never triggered when he placed them at the door (he took a picture of the delivered packages at my door so I know they were there). When I arrived home I walked around the back of my property and the camera picked up me entering my house but not walking around the back. How could it miss something so obvious as a PERSON walking right in front of it?
I spent an hour and a half re watching the footage at 1x speed (2x speed went way too fast to pick up anything and there was no in between option) to try to find who stole my items. You know what I saw? Trees moving in the wind. Nothing. This system's motion sensor will pick up a tree or nothing for fifteen minutes at a time but something as large as a person placing a package at a front door will not trigger it. Did I mention the sensor was sent to its most sensitive setting?...Yet still no footage of the brazen thief who stole these items in broad daylight.
I also noticed other flaws with the system, such as I would view a car drive down the street and it would disappear midway through it. I am pretty disappointed with this system, the software was difficult to deal with too, especially when trying to scroll to a point in a video, it either did it or completely ignored my request. I called the cops and one of the first things they did when they arrived was point at the camera and say "that didn't pick it up?" I was so EMBARRASSED. No, no it did not pick it up (I do have some lovely footage of trees in the wind that it DID pick up though). I paid so much for this system and it was basically like having nothing at all. I now have no choice but to have it on "always record" because the motion sensor is so horribly unreliable. I have lost faith in Zosi and thought their product was higher quality than this.

The GOOD.
1. Nice looking product; not cheaply constructed
2. Easy to physically install.
3. Video is clear and focused.
4. Night vision is very good.
5. Cables were of an adequate length.
Summary: Good hardware.
The BAD.
1. Instructions are poor. Some functionality and setup functions are not described at all.
2. The motion detection simply does not work:
At times I'll get one email every minute from the same camera when there has been no motion at all, then no emails when a person walks in front of it. This is happening without me changing the sensitivity. I began receiving one email per minute about an hour ago after having received none all day. It's possible I have something configured wrong, but the small amount of documentation provided doesn't describe proper configuration.
3. The DVR unit reboots two to three times per day.
4. Sometimes it is not possible to connect with the mobile app.
Summary: Bad software.
If I have any trouble at my house, I'll have to search the video to find it since motion detection alerts do not work properly. My money is gone, so I have no choice but to work with what I have. When I buy a system for my barn, it'll be a different one, hopefully with software/firmware which functions properly..
-EDIT-
One month later:
One camera now displays only a black and white picture, and I am receiving NO motion alerts. So my original statement that the hardware is good was very wrong. I've contacted the manufacturer by email after they offered to replace the DVR and my messages have been ignored. This system is crudely built JUNK.

I recently got this set-up after attempting a cheaper IP wireless camera. For my needs, the IP camera was a wash and difficult to set up and use. I decided to bite the bullet and spend a little more for this system. I do not regret it one bit! The set up is relatively easy, although wires are almost always a pain. After testing the system, I installed 3 of the 4 cameras. The included cables are more than generous in length. Although the cameras are waterproof, the connections are not, so for the one camera that isn't under the roof line, I did have to get some marine quality heat shrink wrap and a heat gun. All in all, once installed, the system is a breeze to set up. As it has a built in hard drive, it's so much easier than getting a cheaper system that requires an additional hard drive. I like that I can see, playback, and even record segments from my phone. In addition, the included DVR is easy to use and maneuver through. This is the 1st security system I ever installed, and I now feel like an expert after doing this myself. I would absolutely recommend this system, and I've actually already convinced a few neighbors to get the same system. I have a feeling I will be helping a few neighbors with their installations, now.
Minor tips/caveats but definitely worth it's 4.2 star rating!

I had a pair of Foscam units but this package is far more sophisticated. Two caveats: 1) You need to begin the setup process with a monitor and a mouse hooked directly up to the DVR so the initial setup/hard drive formatting - you can't do it through your WiFi. 2) One of my 8 cameras arrived DOA. Being a Amateur radio operator (KG0WX), I felt confident investigating as the cameras have no anti-tamper seals and are easy to take apart as the housing simply screws apart. I found that inside the housing is a bag of silica drying agent to prevent fogging but it had knocked the main connector off the camera board. I also found the O ring seal around that board instead of in it's groove in the housing. Easy fix! The LED board is a common Ebay part and can be replaced when the LED's get weak in a few years. The night vision is double the Foscam's capabilities (and those were impressive in their own right). These will cover about half of a typical yard with full illumination and a lit cigarette looks like a road flare! Remember to set up port forwarding for this in your router, TCP 37777, UDP 37778 and HTML 80. Once I did that it came alive and when I hooked up a monitor to the VGA port I was really impressed with the sophistication of the system and the features, like how you can designate where in the view of the camera the motion detector will or won't look. Not for the non techie so if you don't know what TCP/IP means you might want to think of hiring a Nerd to help you get this online. I also noted on my now repaired camera #8 that that cable had no strain relief in the mount so if you tug on the cable it might unplug inside the camera.....
Very Impressed

I have had name brand security cameras for years, two of which finally said they'd had enough and drowned themselves. Small cracks developed in the camera case itself where it joins with the mounting base allowing water to do the rest.
Now I've only been running this camera for a couple of days but so far I'm impressed enough to get on here and write a review. Our waterfront home presents a challenge for security cameras even during the day due to dramatically different amounts of sunlight. All six of my cameras covering the water side of the property have difficulty when the area they are covering is divided between complete shade and bright sunlight. My name brand cameras completely flare out the bright portion of the picture, you wouldn't see an elephant walk past! Not this little guy and the picture I included tells the story. Please note that nothing was done to this picture besides cropping it to get the manufacturers name out of it. With my other cameras the sunlit portion of this picture would have flared out so badly you would have had a hard time even seeing the windows let alone the furniture. And if you look closely in the corner by the sliding glass door you'll see the motion detecting LED flood lights. They are very bright and would really cause problems for my old camera. When those LEDs came on at night that camera's picture would flare out so badly that I couldn't tell you if my Golden Retriever was at the sliding door. I tested this several times last night and this Zosi camera was great. When the LED floods came on the Zosi gave me a great, no flares picture. Forget the dog, now I'll be able to check the recording and finally find out which cat keeps leaving dead little presents in front of that door for me.
This camera is mounted on top of a deck railing, completely exposed to the eliminates. It shouldn't take long to find out find out how well it's constructed. Would I recommend this camera to a friend? Not yet, I'll give it a few months, but if the image quality remains as is, then yes I would. But, in the meantime I'm getting two more of these to replace a couple other name brand cameras I'm not happy with anymore.
Keep in mind that the 3.66mm lens doesn't provide a huge field of view so if you're trying to cover a large area with a single camera this may not be the camera for you. Also, because the deck has accent lighting at night I can't give you an honest opinion on the infrared capabilities. Although I certainly didn't notice any difference from the camera it replaced.
PS: If you have an area that your cameras Ir doesn't provide enough light you might consider just adding an Ir emitter. They are inexpensive and can provide a lot of light in areas you currently can't see at night. Search Amazon for "CCTV ir illuminator".
