I've been using G Fuel Watermelon as a pre-workout for lifting and biking for a few months and it's been great. I won't credit this to the G Fuel itself, but I have lost 15lbs in a couple months and using this product has helped me keep my high protein, low sugar diet going. As a biologist, I'm not sure if all the fancy ingredients in the secret sauce here do much of anything for you, but the main ones - caffeine, taurine, vitamin B6 and B12 (hard for our vegan friends to get naturally in their diets without eating fortified cereal) - seem to do their job and the usual suspects in every pre-workout are here, except for stimulants of questionable legality. Once you get past the chemical aftertaste, the overall watermelon is good and not as sickeningly sweet as watermelon candy. Works great for long coding sessions too. You've got my loyalty, G Fuel.

Subjective but it tastes OK. It has a similar taste to anything thats sugar free but the flavor is OK. Itr doesnt give me the jitters and I dont crash after an hour like some energy drinks. Its mostly flavored caffeine / taurine. Theres a lot of talk about how it doesnt dissolve in water and thats kind of true but, just like Kool-Aid, youre adding powder to cold water. Try adding Kool-Aid to cold water instead of mixing sugar/koolaid first then adding water. Youll never get the clumps of Kool-Aid out. The scoop is kind of genius and a pain at the same time in that it fits the water bottle perfectly but shoots it out as you twist it to dump it in. You have to pay attention when dumping it in and most likely youll still spill some. Also, dont fill the scoop all the way. Theres a line below the funnel part that is the fill line. And dont take a big gulp of water first. Measured properly, a full 16.9oz water bottle has (barely) enough room for a properly measured scoop. Im sure this depends on the brand of water but you can hold 2.5 ounces of water in your mouth so if you do have to lower the water level first just a small sip. Shake it, wait a minute, shake it some more. No matter what you do, you'll still have sediment. Ive tried to make it 100% sediment free and even after 1 hour and using room temp water bottles, some of it just does not absorb. Get used to it.

I'm trying out a variety of powdered energy drinks lately. This tub was my first taste of G Fuel. I am very pleased with the watermelon flavor, which has just the right amount of tang and sweet for me. I wish the powder was a little finer, because it's not entirely soluble even with lots of agitation and it has a tendency to leave unpleasant residue on my tongue, but the flavor and energy boost are solid.

I was initially concerned about the California Proposition 65 warning about lead in this product. After some research into the lead levels allowed by a variety of government agencies, and what level of lead content triggers a Prop 65 warning, I decided this is a risk I am willing to accept. I do recommend doing your own investigation and making an informed decision, however.

UPDATE: Shortly after purchasing this, I started having severe allergic reactions to it. Really sad.
