This thing is fantastic. I haven't purchased a windshield mount for a phone in a while, and boy have we made progress in the realm of suction cups. I was expecting a typical, plastic suction cup, but this stuff is made out of some sort of goop infused with pixie dust. The first time I stuck it to my windshield just to test fit the mount, I went to remove it and it took me FIVE MINUTES of prying to get it off, after which I had to take a break to allow me fingers to recover. Oh... and that was BEFORE I locked it into place using the lever to apply suction. I can't imagine this thing will EVER fall off my windshield. but it was also pretty cold in the garage, so who knows how this stuff will act on a hot day.

The mount itself works very well. Mine is partially extended, so it's actually cantilevered pretty far out, but even in my lowered Subaru BRZ on coilovers, it doesn't bounce or vibrate the way I was expecting. It's a very solid mount. The method of securing the phone to the mount by simply pressing it against the back button, allowing the arms to snap into place is a great "innovation" and the release arms are easy to use as well. No complaints here!!!

Honest to Gosh, I can say this is one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. I ordered two of these; one for my husband's car, and one for mine. Both failed, probably because my dashboard is just curved enough to need the different bottom piece. I installed the first one in my car, and it came off after about 24 hours even though I followed the instructions, including the (!) part, then I used the sticky part of my hubby's for a second go in my car, and it too failed, even though I tried it in a flatter part of the car which blocks a large portion of my view. After 24 hours of having a working clip, I can't see how I ever used any other type of phone holder. This thing is AWESOME, because it easily clicks in, (with a satisfying click sound and everything,) and it adjusts to how ever I need it. I am disabled and suck at things that require dexterity, and this thing gives me almost no trouble to set my phone in, and take out. Anyway, it didn't stay on my dash, I wrote an email to iOttie, and they wrote me back right away, and are going to send me a replacement sticky part, that is better suited for my dashboard. Wow. They were so great. I am super impressed. I hate writing reviews, but I wanted to make sure I did for this item, because it is worth it.

Overall it's a good upgrade. Very flexible with the articulation and reach options. Good anti-slip rubber pads on the arms help hold the phone better than the old gen.

I have a Note 4 with a bulky case so it just fits the upper limit for this holder. Main complaints with the new design are the short side release bars and the larger one touch trigger.

The side release bars on the sides are a bit shorter than the older gen. With the old gen holder it was easy to push to release and lock the arms. With this new gen I have to reach my fingers around the back to push and lock the arms. But because the one touch trigger is so large and sensitive, it releases the arms again when I grab my phone to remove it.

I liked the older gen's smaller locking trigger button and release arms better, it was easier to use with one hand. Until I get use to removing the phone without touch the button, I find myself using two hands to hold the phone away from the button while I lock the side release bars.

Don't bother with those crappy 'vent' mounts. They're all terrible and will probably just mess up your car's vents.

This product is vastly superior, and a great price! I bought two of these (one for myself and my wife) and we couldn't be happier. Installation was a breeze, and daily usage is also supremely easy! You won't regret buying this universal car mount. If you don't want to stick it to your dash, you can use the window. We both mounted ours on the dash (never was a big fan of window mounts because of the blocking of the view, but on the dash it works perfectly.

I got this because I was sick and tired of my phone not having a dedicated spot in the car. There are things I like, and things I don't like:

I Like:
- It hold the phone securely (iPhone 6). No problems at all
- The suction cup holds to the windshield tighter than a scared 3 year old
- The extended arm doesn't really 'bounce' at all. Rock steady

I Don't Like:
- I bought this for a dash mount. It really does not hold to the dash. Yes, I prepped the dash. Yes, I followed the instructions. And, NO, it doesn't hold the dash very well (but see above regarding the windshield!).
- Because it doesn't hold the dash, I attached to windshield. The arm is plenty long to put the phone where I want it, but it does block the vision a bit in the center of the windshield. Annoying, but you get used to it.
- It is a little difficult to release the phone 1-handed. I get it done well enough, though.

That's about it - I haven't seen anything out there that I would prefer, and I would buy again.
