Fit my needs perfectly

I design jewelry for a living, and I sell the majority of that jewelry in an on-line setting. It is critical to my success that I be able to accurately (and artistically) be able to photograph my designs in the best possible light. Over the years I have purchased and ultimately been unhappy with several brands and types of light boxes. I eventually became so annoyed at not being able to purchase a light studio that met my needs that i embarked on an expensive and unimpressive journey to build my own.
I don't know how it is that I missed seeing this product earlier in the process, but I was oblivious as to it's existence until several weeks ago when I stumbled across it here.
The item arrived on time and it was very well packed. I found a very well done video online that walked me through the assembly process step by step. There are other videos on youtube that would be very, very helpful for anyone who isn't confident in their photography skills.
So far the item has worked as described and as expected. I haven't dug into them yet, but I also purchased the five color set of background images.
Solid product - good customer service - I can't think of anything more that one should reasonably expect from a retailer, although I can think of many a retailer who fails to provide them.
An easy five stars.

Does what you Expect

Not bad. It does what you need it to do. As others have mentioned, the light could be stronger for the size of the area. Depending on where you place the product you're photographing, you could end up with a gray background. I usually just touch this up post production, but I will probably end up buying additional lighting.
This was purchased for company use and I have been giving a very small space for product shooting. As such, it would be helpful if the studio could be easily stored away. Right now I can only fit one table into the space and the studio takes up 3/4 of the table.
This is the first Table Top Studio I have used, so I am not sure how the pricing compares to other modals (This was purchased based on a co-workers recommendation), but looking around, I feel like I could have gotten something with better lighting for around the same amount of money.
Personally I would have given it 3 stars, but my boss loves the product shots, so I will up it to 4.

Works okay, but underpowered lighting requires post-processing

At this price, the MyStudio PS5 is nearly perfect for photography of most small objects. Its single unfortunate limitation is the anemic 15-watt light source. As other reviewers caution, it is not bright enough to yield a pure white background without either exposure compensation in-camera, post-processing in Photoshop (or the image-editing software of your choice), or some combination of the two. As is, the light provides a smoothly graduated, seamless/shadowless but distinctly gray background that's at least 2 f-stops short of white when your subject is properly exposed. In fairness, the manufacturer's instructions do allude to the need for post-processing to address this, and most photographers will probably be post-processing the image anyway (cropping, saturation, whatever), so I wouldn't call this a major deal-breaker.
The logical solution would be to equip the studio with a stronger light... but no one manufactures a 18" fluorescent 5000K tube greater than 15w in output. Another reviewer suggested removing the plastic diffuser shield from the light fixture. I tried it. First---good luck removing the diffuser without breaking off most of the tiny, fragile locking tabs which hold it in place. Once I got the diffuser off, I found that the background lighting was brighter but also (no surprise) noticeably less uniform, which I didn't like. I put the diffuser back on for now.
Despite the exposure issue, I've been happy with the end results. I've used the MyStudio to shoot a book cover image, and a handful of product shots for eBay, and it was ideal for those purposes.

Great results right off the bat, but wishing for more solid construction.

I have been using a 24" folding photo box tabletop studio to photograph 1/72 scale model airplanes for several years. However, because of limited space, I was never able to reliably obtain the diffused light and soft shadows that are best for this kind of work. In contrast, I was able to obtain my desired results during my first session with the PS5, just by following the exposure recommendations included in the packaging. I am very satisfied with the results, but there are some negatives to the product: 1. The construction is fairly flimsy. In my situation, I am able to clamp the PS5's feet to my work space to stabilize it, but this might be a problem in more portable applications; there must be a way to engineer the frame to be more sturdy (e.g., triangle braces at the upper corners?) 2. Despite its desirable color/temperature and even diffusion, the intensity of the light source is low. This means very long exposures (5" or more) with the small apertures I need for acceptable depth of field. Since my photography is more hobby than work, the added time is not a problem, just different from what I am used to. These negatives are not enough to undermine the primary positive: The PS5 gave me the exact results I was hoping for, right away. I've added photos to show the PS5 set up in a spare room, results from the old tabletop box studio, and results of the same subject (and similar Photoshop enhancements) in the PS5.
So glad that I FINALLY broke down and bought this!

I sell on Ebay and have spent countless wasted hours retaking pictures which did not come out well with just my camera and natural lighting. I didn't use the flash as it distorts color and adds flash glares. I also could not take pictures in the evening or on rainy days as it was too dark...I was looking at a lot of the smaller cheaper light box systems and was not comfortable that they would give me super results as there were many neutral and negative comments about the smaller cheaper ones. FINALLY though I saw this one and it was on sale. I saw very good reviews and felt comfortable paying a little more for something. I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THIS LIGHT BOX SYSTEM!!! I can take photos anytime and they are consistantly good!
Some things I do when taking pictures with it:
* I do not turn on any overhead lights even if it is getting dark outside as it casts a yellow ting to the pictures I am taking due to my bulbs in my lights in my home.
*I do increase my exposure setting on my camera a few notches because I like the look of a bright photos.
*watch where your hands are while holding the camera. I do not use a tripod, so I have to make sure IF my hands/camera end up inside the box to take a closeup that my hands are not blocking the light coming down...simple fix is to use your zoom button and keep your hands out of the box.
I give this light studio two thumbs up as it does exactly what I need!
