I didn't need 8 of these, but for the price it seemed reasonable. The extras will be useful for road trips and for when I forget to freeze the one I use for work. I used just one in my insulated lunch bag and my stuff stayed cold. After 6 hours, the ice pack wasn't frozen but was still cool and was about the same (not warmer) 3 hours later. Works well for my purpose of just not using the shared mini fridge in our offices.

the plastic is a bit thick and the cold blue material a bit thin, so the coldness doesn't translate out as much as I would like however it does keep a beer cold.
