We love coffee, and go through a lot each day. But since we no longer use any kind of creamer to make coffee less bitter, I tried different coffee brew methods. After years of experimenting, I hit upon a sweet spot: Cold brew + paper filter. I started with a mason jar + metal strainer system. That worked ok, but the sludge bothered me. So I combined two methods. I had an old Chemex carafe, and used that. Now I grind coffee, put the grounds in a large mason jar, add water, screw on one of these lids and put it in the fridge for 6 to 24 hours. Then I remove some grounds at the top with a spoon, pour the coffee through a paper filter, and then pour the finished coffee into another mason jar and top off with one of these great plastic lids. Back in the fridge, where the coffee will keep for days if necessary. Heat a cup in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes, as needed. Not bitter at all, and convenient. No more broken carafes! Mason jars are tough.

I bought this hoping to be able to use a mason jar as my daily water bottle, so I was a little skeptical that it would hold up for very long. However, after getting the thing, I have to say it's pretty solid. The plastic is beefy in all the right places, and the lid shuts securely without leaking. I can even shake it without holding the lid closed, though I don't intend to see how long that lasts. The design of the threads and the placement of the oring was well executed, too. The lid screws on easily and does not leak, but unlike many mason jar lids it doesn't take a gorilla to get it off. The opening is nice and wide, so it works well with smoothies, but not so wide that drinking water from it results in getting your beard wet. (If you have one) The lid does have a tendency to touch my nose while I'm drinking, so make sure you wipe it if you're chugging a chocolate protein shake or something, because if you don't you'll have it on your nose.

These lids are exactly what I wanted. I was using a drinking top which needed the metal ring to hold it in place, and that was okay. But, over time, the metal rings start to rust. I tried some silicon lids which looked like they would do the job, but they were prone to leaking. These lids have a good seal on them to prevent leaking during transportation. I would buy these again if/when the need arises.
Solid, leakproof, and totally worth the cost.

I hesitated paying this much for lids, but just came back to buy more. :-) These are wonderful! Heavy duty, easy to use and wash, and leak-proof. I mostly use them on half-gallon mason jars for iced tea and iced coffee.
The first three I bought didn't all have the gasket ring, so the jar leaked immediately. But I noticed the problem, contacted the manufacturer, and was delighted at how quickly they rectified the problem. Not a drip or leak since. These beat the white and green plastic lids by a mile.
Love the colors, too, although I wouldn't mind a second or even third color option. I could then tell the coffee from the tea (and avoid the dreaded coffee flavor in my other drinks!). But it's a minor quibble. Overall, VERY happy with these lids.

These are the best thing ever. I've tried a few different lids for mason jars and never found a solution that meant I could put it in my purse and take it to work. Now I can! These seal super tightly and they hold their seal whether they're hot or cold. I can shake hot tea in this without even a drop leaking. I wish I'd bought these two years ago, I thought they were too much money for lids but I've wasted far more trying other things. I bought a two pack, one had a full jar of tea fall off the counter on to the rim and the lid cracked and lost a piece, but the jar was somehow protected. So I bought three more, and I'm for sure planning on another couple soon, and I hope they're available in normal mouth as well as wide.
