Works well, but not as simple as advertised

This latch worked to solve a misalignment with my existing latch. The latch bolt on the door was significantly lower than the hole in the strike plate. This strike plate has a longer opening than my old one. Only gave it 4 stars because they claim there is no need for chiseling. Well I guess this may be somewhat true, but if the hole behind your existing strike plate is small then the latch bolt will not go all the way in. The door catches but this doesn't seem to be the proper way to install. Essentially the plate is the only thing that is restraining the latch bolt. This may not be a big deal for an interior door, but it is not how the system is supposed to work. I chiselled out the hole in the frame to match the new strike plate this allows the latch bolt to extend the full depth into the door frame. Also my existing strike plates sit flush in the door frame. I didn't bother recessing the new plate because there is enough clearance between the door and the frame. I can recommend this to solve a misalignment issue, but it is not as simple as they make it seem.
Fixed a problem I've lived with for years in one minute

I have a basement garage with a hollow core door going into our house. Windy days enough air gets in to blow the door open. Heat loss (rest of basement is finished) and once a buglar alarm issue (door is alarmed). I replaced the latch set, have fooled around with these plates doubling them up, shimming, chiseling out the opening to relocate, bending....nothing made the latch "click" and hold when you closed the door. I spent a few bucks on this and was a little skeptical, as it looks very much like what I already had. Spent a grand total of ONE MINUTE removing the old (with shims) and putting this in. It clicks, stays shut and holds really strong. How, exactly? Well, there is something there in the setup, but it is not real obvious to look at. I totally recommend.
Works great but a bit "hacky"

First and foremost, this fixed my issue. I had a door that used to have a deadlatch that kept it closed tightly, but when I purchased new doorknobs, there wasn't a deadlatch available for what I needed. So to closure was loose, and it cause the deadbolt to have a lot of friction when trying to close it. I have a Kevo SmartLock, so this actually caused it to not close fully most of the time. This product narrowed the hole for the latch and the door is now holding in the perfect position to remove all friction from the deadbolt closing.
That said, the reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because it feels a bit hacky. I thought the inner plate might be adjustable to narrow the hole, but it's actually static. You narrow the hole by sticking a small screwdriver into the tab and bending it, basically creating a "hump" that sticks out into the opening. It works, it just doesn't look as nice as I imagine a sliding back plate would. But how often do you look at your latch, right? Well, the other thing is that I can now here three distinct latching sounds. The first between the outer plate and the inner plate, the second between the inner plate and the elongated part of the tab (where you bend it with the screwdriver) and the third once the latch gets past the hump. If you close it quickly you only hear two, maybe one, and it's not that big a deal, just not what I expected.
I actually had tried to do something similar with a standard plate, bending the tab to narrow the gap, but unless you bend the tab all the way out (which made my door TOO snug), you're going to be at risk of the door flying open since you have to bend a traditional tab from the back instead of the front, which is worse than a boltjam! So I have to hand it to them, this is a product that's going to work in almost every situation, I just wish it was made a bit differently to avoid the two annoyances I mentioned above.

Super pleased

If you have more than one door to fix, go ahead and buy the multi-pack to save on shipping. I only bought one but LOVED it and then ordered more. I have an older home with several doors that stop latching at different times throughout the year. I have to baby proof my home, and that's a problem for doors that don't latch, but it is a problem no more. It was super easy to install, came with all the hardware, and functions perfectly. I am super pleased with this purchase.
