I thought I had loose soils but I whacked it with a hammer while turning with the bar.
That stair isn't going anywhere.

I read the reviews on this and many talked about putting this in sandy ground. Where I live it is a bony clay and you just never know when you will hit a 500lb rock that is 12 inches down. However, I decided to try it because every few years I keep having to put up a new mailbox because the plow hits it and bury a new post. A lot of folks talked about putting it in the ground when the ground is wet. So I waited for several days of wet weather and then went out and tried it. The rebar was good until the last 10", then I went and got a 2 x 4 and that was what did it. Overall, it took me about 15 minutes to look at the spot get it down to the last 10" and then get the 2x4 and get it to ground level. It took me another 15 to drill the pilot holes and put in the 5 included lag bolts. The directions don't mention the gray washers and plastic washers so hopefully I put them in the right way. But the mailbox is secure, it's not going anywhere now. In the future, if the plow hits it, I can just pull the old 4x4 off, put a new one on and reattach a mailbox. I would say that this was a success!
Worth the money

Was so much easier then digging a hole! Got both posts put up in no time and since I didn't have to wait for concrete to dry I was able to immediately put my boards up. Will be adding my house number and some planter boxes once my boards dry!
Worked great

My mailbox has never been so secure.
We get a lot of snow and the snowplows are hard on the mailboxes and the posts. They're going to have to knock it clean off now
