Beautiful Cell Case easily tips to side and scratches up the edge alongside the wheel. The wheel spacing is too narrow causing easy tipping. The Ridge handle also contribute to the casing tippling if you are pulling the case behind you and hit carpeting, doorway threshold or just going around a corner.

This is a review of the CrossRock CRF 4000 cello case -- carbon fiber hybrid.

The blue color and 'swirl' pattern design are attractive, the latches are smooth and easy to use, and overall the case seems quite sturdy. It is too early to tell how durable it will be.

The case fits my large-pattern cello well which was a concern but ended up fine. However, the weight is heavier than represented. I ordered this case as a lighter-weight alternative to my fiberglass case and it is, indeed, lighter but not the 9.9 pounds shown in the description. My new CRF4000 case weighs 11 pounds. This may not sound like much heavier but every little pound counts when you're looking for lighter.

Another issue for me is the very awkward and clumsy straps in the case -- one for the scroll and another for the neck. Both straps are buckle-clasp types and they can be difficult to use (I no longer use the scroll strap at all) or get in the way when you're trying to close an empty case (as the neck strap does). It would be a huge improvement -- and I think less cost for the manufacturer -- to use a wide elastic band for the scroll strap and two pieces of Velcro -- a right and left side -- for the neck strap. Overall, a nice-enough case. but my recommendation is tempered by the issues I list above.

Beautiful case. Strong and well made. Fits the cello but isn't bulky or hard for my 11 year old grandson to handle.
