I love this vacuum. I will admit, I came from a standing Dyson vacuum. It was weird to get used to at first. I liked the "heavy" nature of a floor vacuum. It felt more robust in my hands which in turn made me feel like it did a better job. I also liked the "vacuum marks" you get on your carpet with floor vacuums.

Well, the V10 Absolute doesn't disappoint. While it's weird to get used to holding this tiny piece of machinery, it really does an amazing job. I vacuumed with my Dyson floor vacuum first and then with the V10, it was incredible how much dog fur it still picked up! I was pretty grossed out to be honest, to think I lived in this atmosphere for this long "thinking" it was clean is nuts!

I love all the attachments too, they are all top notch and well made. I feel like I can tackle my entire house with this bad boy. AND it's light weight! I use it on the lowest setting and it still picks up a ton (and to be clear, when I did my old vs new test, the V10 was on the lowest setting too!) I don't think I'll ever need the high or medium setting. But I did try the highest setting for a few seconds and literally felt like the vacuum was ATTACHED to the floor, that's how hard it sucked (in a good way)!

Pros: EVERYTHING. I love the mounting bracket. It looks like a piece of art. I know I might be crazy but it's beautiful!
Cons: Only 1 - the trigger is a bit uncomfortable. You have to hold it down the entire time you vacuum, which is nice because you don't need the vacuum on while resituating the vacuum to a different spot (saving battery life) but it also kind of hurts your finger as you use it. I could see a company coming in a making a little soft grip cover for the trigger area just to make it more comfortable to hold.

To go against every other review - I have no had a single issue with battery life. I have a 3200 sq foot home with wood floors downstairs and full carpet upstairs - I vacuumed the floors downstairs, the carpeted stairs and all carpeted rooms up stairs on one charge and will still left with 1 light lit on the "battery" charge.

The price was steep but doesn't bother me, because I'm getting something that will last me YEARS. my last Dyson lasted me 10 years, and that was one I bought USED and likely was used for 5 years before that. No joke!!

As a stay at home mother of 2, I was having a very hard time keeping up with vacuuming the house. We have a stand up style Dyson that is going on 8 years old. Dragging out that heafty appliance, I dreaded vacuuming as it took hours to do our two story house. Also being our home is mainly hardwoods, I was finding myself using the extension with the hard floor attachment almost exclusively. Not to mention, it's loud and cumbersome.
So, appalled at the price tag on the V10 animal, I hit the buy button anyway.
But that is where buyer's remorse ended. It has been a joy to vacuum! Such a major improvement from our older Dyson. It's super light and not very loud in comparison, which is helpful when you need to clean up while you carry your sleeping baby around. (So far) I have not had any issues with holding a charge, and was able to vacuum my whole 2000 sq foot home on one charge, but I find myself doing a few rooms every other day instead because it's just so quick and easy to get out, vacuum, and put away. I find low suction for hardwoods was adequate for my needs, and medium suction on the rugs and carpet gets SO MUCH debris out... I haven't even needed max suction. There are a few things I wish Dyson would address to completely justify the price tag though.
1. My hard floor attachment from my older vacuum doesn't fit the new design. Not a deal breaker because the motorized head does a great job with pet hair and dust bunnies.
2. Non removable battery. Why can't dyson have a removable battery so you can have a back up if you run out of charge half way through cleaning. Also, not a huge deal if you vacuum in sections instead of the whole house at once.
3. The hanging dock only has 2 built in spots for other attachments. This specific one has 4 extra attachments... so I had to put the other 2 away in a cupboard (where I'll probably forget I have them). Eh, it would be nice to have everything in one place.

All in all, well worth the purchase. It has even enticed the hubby to vacuum on occasion without complaint. I'd call that a win.

Have had a Dyson V10 Absolute for a month now. Waited till I used it a bit before reviewing. As stated numerous times, it isn't worth running on high unless absolutely necessary and if necessary prepare for a long wait.

Aside from that, this vacuum is perfect for everyday cleaning. I have 2 large dogs and four cats, so I am required to vacuum daily. I have a Kirby which is the most amazing vacuum I have ever owned and which has been in use for well over ten years and is as great today as the day I got it. However it weighs a ton, and is not convenient for every day use. This vacuum absolutely is. Works on every surface in my home which varies from wood floors to tile to carpet. Works on furniture and on numerous pet beds. It is much more maneuverable than my Kirby which means instead of moving furniture to vacuum it actually reaches the toughest spots.

As others have stated, what would make this vacuum perfect is replaceable batteries If it had that, my Kirby would be retired.

We got the V10 animal, and couldn't be happier with it! We got it to replace our upright dyson ball: it's been wonderful, but it's pretty bulky and annoying to lug up and down stairs. The v10 animal is much lighter, and much more portable. It seems to do the same great job, when you factor in how much more frequently I actually use the V10!

It's great for a quick run around the high-traffic areas, or a deeper clean of the area rugs and hard floors. We have medium- and low-pile area rugs over hardwood and tile floors (roughly 1,000sq ft per floor), and it works fine on both.

Another reviewer suggested that the only difference between the animal and the absolute is the hardwood floor attachment (the canister size and other attachments are the same), so I got the animal.

I love that it has several settings, from a quick run on the lowest setting on the motor with the roller head at the highest setting (you can raise or lower openings on the head for different suction strength - lower setting gets more suction, higher setting sucks up bigger debris); to a deep clean of a carpeted area that has ground in dirt (the motor at highest setting and roller head at lowest setting).

My one tiny gripe is that you have to hold the trigger down to keep the motor on. Not a big problem since it doesn't run that long for any job, but after I do the whole upstairs my trigger finger does ach a bit (I'm getting old!).

I love that it's light enough and quiet enough for my 4 year old to use it, and my 6 month old isn't afraid of it!

Emptying the canister is a breeze: no touching dust or dirt, plus there's a rubber seal that slides down the middle of the canister to help push more dust off the middle cylinder. The first time I tried to empty the canister, it took a little extra strength to get it open all the way, and I was a bit worried I might break it. Since then I haven't had trouble opening it, and it stays sealed while closed.

In every way, it's a major improvement on our 2008/9 dyson ball! And I loved our old dyson!
