My dogs like this food

My dogs like this food. I hoped it would help improve their coats and help with shedding but I'm yet to see that affect. However, their fur is still soft. I wish it was the 40lb bag for the price like many of the other products offered by this company.

Diamond Naturals competes with most of the other so called " Holistic" dog foods out there on the market. However, If you're looking to buy a high protein fish based dog food for your beloved fur baby, Diamond Naturals is probably not your best choice. Granted it's impressive that the products main ingredients are Salmon and Fish meal. I like that there's no chicken meal or chicken fat added. Who needs that? However there's lower grade Pea protein added to hike the product's already mediocre 25% minimum protein level rating. Sadly, the product simply falls short of the standard 32 - 34% higher protein range offered in many other better choice Fish Grain Free dog food products out there. Undeniably Diamond Naturals taken at face value is truly offered here at a Great Price. It's really nice though to see a GRAIN FREE Salmon dog food product sold which is just that --- ALL FISH. Impressive indeed. Blue Buffalo at a considerably much higher price still includes chicken meal. Impressive also are the probiotic numbers 80 million CFU which assist your dog's digestive system with less allergic reactions. IF YOUR DOG HAS A SENSITIVE STOMACH? This is the highest number available for any commercially made dog food I could find out there on the market. I've been told the higher probiotic numbers in this brand also prevents less ear infections . Anyone have a dog like me with skin issues ? Happily the Omega Fatty Acid levels in Diamond Naturals will also help to promote your dog's healthy skin and coat. (SEE PIC) This means less hot spots on your dog. Offering just White Potato instead of Sweet Potato though stands out as a MAJOR disappointment. My dog doesn't have an allergic reaction to potato but many dogs do. . However, where the product primarily falters Big Time is in the area of Smell and Taste. Where's the FISH? Wag smells like Fish , American Journey smells like Fish, all of which are sold in the same overall price range as Diamond Naturals. Why then Diamond Naturals doesn't smell like really ANYTHING AT ALL is for me mind boggling. The first picture is that of Wag Salmon and the second picture is that of Diamond Naturals. Just look at the color difference as well. The darker color granule resonates with a stronger smell of fish. (SEE PICS). My dog like many can be a picky eater. Fortunately when mixed with other dog food my pet will still eagerly gobble Diamond Naturals up. It's a quality ingredient product and I realize the discussion topic of smell and taste is truly subjective. However, you would think the manufacturer would have spent just a little more time on making it smell and taste a more appealing. The stronger the fish smell the better my dog likes it. In the end for many I would still highly recommend the purchase. Oh Well..... until next time. I wish your dog and mine as always -- Happy Tails~~~~~~~~~ & Bon Appetit :)
So many compliments on my dog's coat!

I'll edit this to post a photo later, but I originally purchased because our new foster dog was vomiting every other day, and a few reviews said their dogs stopped vomiting after starting this food...three years ago! He was an abused rescue with a very poor coat, and I constantly get compliments on his beautiful coat now. Ok, yes it is three years later (obviously we were "foster failures" and adopted the pup!), but he looks great and hardly ever vomits (probably more to do with being comfortable than the food). Only thing is it is higher in fat/calories due to coat-improving ingredients, so now we mix half Diamond Light food with this. Diamond is good quality value for money.

I like the fact that this food is for All Life Stages which means he can eat it now in his puppy stage at 5 months old and into his adult stages. I like that it is healthy with Omega 3's and the nutrients needed to support a healthy immune system. His coat is soft and shiny and looks amazing. His energy levels are naturally high I think due to his breed so he needs something to keep him satisfied and playing most of the day"¦ this food seems to be the right choice and you can't beat the value. The price point is right.

I'm not a vet, so I refuse to make comments on which food (real cooked, wet, dry, certain brands) are best for any particular dog. They all have different needs, each and every dog.

Obviously some foods are NOT good and you dont need a vet to tell you that. Read the ingredients. It's also a lot of other factors other than ingredients that play into whether jts a healthy dog food or bit. Such as how these ingredients act in the body, do they turn into good fat or bad fat? Do the they get absorbed at all? Do they have any particular allergic reaction with just your dog?

So anyways, I wont comment on that. But for my 3 year old English bulldog, Miss Piggy (is she not THE CUTEST thing you have ever seen!!!) It seems just fine. My vet has been telling me to feed her purina one dog food since I first brought her there when she was a little over 1 years. I met my fiance when she was 11 months and prior to that she mostly lived with his ex wife kept in the laundry a lot of the day. She had never met another dog, and huge. Bbn like....so fat. It was so darn adorable so not good for her healthy. A female bulldog should weight around 40-50 lbs. She is a bit larger over all than your average female but still, she should not have weighed 75lbs! Once I switched hed her food and continued yes to work her out and give her a good life she lost weight. I brought her back to same vet that told me purina in 8 months later she had already ten pounds! She all extremely healthy! Never has any skin infections or issues with wrinkles (also part or proper care though) and hyst was perfect!

A few weeks ago I bought this because all the hype and it looked ok to me. Piggya is down to her preferred weight and I thought maybe she'd like a different flavor food or something? Idk. Why would I want to heat a hamburger my entire life? Anyway.... after SLOWLY changing her food over she doesn't really like it. I have noticed her coat is a but shinier than normal after only about 4 weeks so that's actually pretty amazing. But I will switching back to purina because my vet said it's better than this stuff based on what my dog needs and she happens to love the taste of that one better anyway.
