This thing really works. GREAT value for the money.

This thing really works. Got it for squirrels, but the first day I set it late in the afternoon and caught a racoon overnight. Used bread and peanut butter for bait. Note to self--don't leave it set overnight unless trapping racoons and possums. Didn't set it every morning but I've caught 5 squirrels in two weeks. One Saturday got of the little devils, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon. I exile them to the golf course down the road.
Setting the trap at first was tough to figure out. The diagram really didn't help. But it works fine now. Only thing I need to fix is that the rod controlling the trip plate and closing the door complete comes apart when the trip plate is tripped and its a bit clumsy getting it set up again. But that's a minor quibble and could be fixed I think with a bit of thin wire.
Great value for the money. No complaints at all. I love it.

Not bad, but given the chance I would buy a different one.

Fortunately, I had experience with similar traps otherwise getting this one set up could have proven difficult as the instructions were a little vague. I was also not thrilled with the "flap" style door that you use to get the trapped animal out. It did not open/close smoothly and having a "swinging" rather than "sliding" limits your ability to reach in while the door is only partially open. Also, the "trip plate" took a little more weight than others I have worked with.
Not sturdy at all

The other side is too weak. Cat managed to bent the rods and got out?? I wouldn't recommend this product. I will try again to see if I get lucky the second time. I would suggest once you set this up the other side which swings open tie with a rope since the rod will not hold.
Raccoons escape very easily. Cats not so much.

Caught a feral cat first thing. Now the neighborhood raccoons keeps escaping. Very frustrating. They easily remove the pin and lift up the door, or pull down the trap door to escape. I have to redecorate/bait to trick them to revisit as they become "trap-smart" they trigger the trap"” and inevitably minutes later they are gone. I watched it on my home security.
Does the job.

I live in the country and have a problem with racoons, found out this trap will catch all kinds of critters you don't expect. But it works as it should and we always let out the non destructive type animals. While the coons are cute and I love to watch them they will empty your trash cans quickly and make a mess, plus they will eat any bird food you leave out. It is amazing how the little devils can climb. Almost as bad as squirrel.
