Spend a little more for a better trap

I'm only giving this 2 stars because it did catch 7 raccoons before becoming trash. It's pretty flimsy, the bars get bent up very easily and need to be reshaped after every use. The last raccoon completely tore the metal plate off the bottom, making it useless... Ended up spending a little more to buy a much sturdier trap, so this was basically a waste of money.

Unfortunately it seems this is a bit too small for feral cats. I've had them eat the bait without tripping the trigger plate. The construction is a bit off; the latch for the trigger door is controlled by a hook, but it's so tightly fitted to the cage that you must pull it out a little, then coat the area with a light coating of silicone to make sure it doesn't get stuck on the cage itself.

Excellent product. Easy to assemble and operate. I did not read the instructions at all but assembled it in 1 min. Sturdy construction. Operating the door with one hand outside the cage so there's no danger of touching the animal. First day, I put cabbage as the bait. No rabbit. Then I decided to try celery. I caught the rabbit the 2nd day and another one the third day. Celery works for me. Very happy with the product.
The varmints are now gone.

I have had this trap for less than one week and have already cleared my backyard of 5 squirrels, one very large rabbit and one very young possum. Before you report me to PETA, let me tell you that I transported each captured animal to a wooded area just outside a Del Webb community about five miles from my home because I felt that it was time for them all to enjoy retirement.
The trap was very easy to assemble and set-up. I don't know which bait was more effective - a quarter of a ripe kiwi or a single Ritz cracker with peanut butter - because they both worked. In one case my wife and I watched from our sun room as a squirrel approached the trap and we each urged it to take one more step, one more step, one more step and then BANG - we got it.
I purchased the larger unit at the recommendation of an earlier review to avoid catching the animals tail in the spring-loaded gate. No animals were hurt in the clearing of my backyard. No pain - pure gain.

Works great. Setup was quick and fairly intuitive. First night out, caught the pesky cat that has been ruining my lawn. It was easy to open the trap door and transfer the cat to a animal carrier for transport. Kitty is off to a new home, and my grass can grow back now! Shipping was surprisingly fast for not being Prime, 2 days after order I had it. For being almost half the cost of other similar sized cages, I see no reason to look elsewhere.
