They definitely work, just be careful with them as you take out of the box because they are meant to be easy to break.
Tip: you can add toothpicks to the stripped hole and it will work just about as well for less money.

These aren't cheap but are worth it for the novice home owner. It's basically a dry wall anchor for screws. Can be used on kitchen cabinets, door hinges, etc. I do wish they made some smaller ones for small screws so you didn't throw most of it away. But either way it's so much easier than filling in whole and letting it dry. These I did in one afternoon.

We used these on a lot of different screws around our house (like in door locks and hardware, for instance) that we could not tighten in other ways, despite repeated attempts using more traditional methods like bamboo skewers, toothpicks, etc. These are far superior to any traditional methods. They really work! Much, much better than any other method. Highly recommended.
