I am using this to design my home but expect to turn over what I have to an architect to complete the project. This program just doesn't give you what you need if you are a professional; you will have to upgrade to Chief Architect for that. However, for the general person just trying to create their floor plan and cabinet layout for a new build, this program cannot be beat. I've had this program for several years, and I purchase the update every year.

Although I am just learning the software, I think it great that it will not install anything into a plan that's not up to code!

This product is a dream come true. As an aspiring architect this product is the perfect combination of utility mixed with a user friendly interface and quality of life shortcuts.

This software is very powerful and totally capable of producing professional drawings that are capable of being submitted to building departments. You can send your drawings to the layout page at whatever scale you want and print the page to all standard sizes. You can specify 18" x 24" or whatever and send it to an office supply store to print on a large format printer.

You simply need to understand the software to be able to utilize the features such as to turn off or on the display of basically anything like dimensions, room labels, landscaping, etc.

There is a bit of a learning curve which is to be expected. For those builders, remodelers, and possibly architects that do residential work it is a great tool that can do some pretty great stuff. You can import surveyor data and create accurate site plans, generate framing views and edit individual framing members, create detailed landscaping/hardscaping plans, create great interior views and plenty of other things.

By the way, I'm a builder using the software to produce actual plans. Just wanted to share my experience with it for folks on the fence about it. It's great and can be rented monthly to feel it out. I think others write negative reviews without understanding the software or actually using it in real world applications which isn't a fair assessment
