It Worked!

My deck had been stained a n umber of years ago and needed to be re-done. I was skeptical about the possible results this product would give, but I was then surprised to see a marked improvement when finished. The stain was removed from most of the deck - although some spots remained. I applied this product 5 times and each time saw a vast improvement. The wood turned white and the Brightener then applied later also added to the positive results I was happy to have gotten.
Great Stripper but very caustic

This is a great stripper for oil based stains. Stripped my cedar deck of several coats of oil based stain that has been down for about 8 years. Things I figured out as I went. Keep the stripper damp and give it time to work. Clean the deck surface prior to using, I power washed to thoroughly clean. Work small to medium size areas. Rinse very well and use the brightener to neutralize and restore the PH.
Works well. USE A RESPIRATOR

Took stain and semi solid stain off 22 yo deck. It did take 2 applications though. I also used a blue pool brush and not sprayer because pump sprayers are too time consuming. That being said I used a lot more product. For an approx 600 sqft deck with steps and railings I used 3 pkgs. You definitely NEED A CHEMICAL RESPIRATOR. I did not use one the first day and the following 2 days I was hoarse, trouble breathing and eye irritation. My error for not following warnings. Did not kill the shrubs around deck. After wearing a mask all was fine. I followed up with their brightened to neutralize.
Worked better than others

This was the 3rd brand of stripper we tried to strip the stain off the deck. This worked better than the others, but we still had to scrub pretty hard with a stiff brush, spraying with a hard stream of water too. If I ever have to strip a deck again, I'd use this. Certainly not spray it on and wash it off, but better than the others. Barely was enough for a 24x8ft deck. Not enough to do railings or stairs too.
On a par with other strippers

Used this on my 7-8 year old treated wood deck. Even after 4 applications, the deck was not completely stripped. However, I tried 3 other strippers (Cabot, Pittsburgh, Defy) and none performed any better so I guess this was as good as any.
